Quarantine Teacher Parade

Title (Dublin Core)

Quarantine Teacher Parade

Description (Dublin Core)

When we first went into quarantine - or lockdown if you prefer that somewhat negative terminology - my son was in kindergarten. Kindergarten is an incredibly difficult adjustment for most kids, but when they arent able to return to the classroom after Spring Break due to a global pandemic, the adjustment is almost impossible. My wife, who was in her second year of Law School, and I did our best to be employees, students, and kindergarten teachers all at the same time, but I fear that my son and his entire generation were put a bit behind due to the lack of specialized teaching. Thankfully we were able to persevere, and my son is excelling in school now, but those first few weeks that turned into months were incredibly trying. A week into lockdown, the teachers from our elementary school did a parade through our neighboorhood and the kids were able to make signs and wave to their teachers, at a safe distance of course.
