This is an audio interview with Colonel Varman Chhoeung. Colonel Chhoeung is the base commander for the Presidio of Monterey, home of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, a Department of Defense training campus run by the United States Army. He has had multiple commands in his twenty-year career in the United States Army ranging from Germany to here in Monterey. Col. Chhoeung is responsible for the safety of base military personnel, faculty, families, and visitors and drafts or institutes the protocols that ensure it. He was born in Cambodia, is married with two children, and attended West Point.
