Text (Omeka Classic)

During this horrible time of uncertainty regarding the COVID-19, I have been filled with anxiety and fear. My senior dog has been struggling with health issues for the last couple of months. When I had to rush her to the vet to be seen, I witnessed absolute heartbreak. The safety protocol for the veterinary staff is to limit only staff members' entry into the building, resulting in curbside delivery of our pets. I was beside myself in fear and anxiety about the news I would receive about my dog...but someone wouldn't be going home with his dog. I watched as a tearful gentlemen led his senior dog to the door six feet apart from the nurse and handed his fateful companion over for euthanasia. I watched as he waited for his credit card to be returned, and I saw the heartbreak on his face as he cried, walking to his car. I know many people have died because of this horrible virus, but it was also heartbreaking to watch this happen to someone. Currently, this virus is nothing but fear, heartbreak, and tragedy.
