Description (Dublin Core)

A personal account of the pandemic #REL101
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people in totally different ways. In my religion course Religion, Culture, and Public Life I have completed a couple of assignments that will be able to capture this event in time and see how people reacted to this pandemic. In the first assignment I was asked to find an article relating to the COVID-19 pandemic pertaining to religion. My article and many of my peers’ articles talked about how religious communities were planning on having their Easter services. Many religious communities were planning on live streaming their services so that their members can still celebrate while having their well-being in mind. However, some religious communities still planned on holding their services like normal. The similarity between these two options was that these communities were still coming together either virtually or in person and being there for each other in a time of need. They did not want anyone in their religious community to go through this pandemic alone.
In the next assignment I was asked to conduct an interview and to gather information on how different religious communities were responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. I learned that the pandemic has affected people in many different ways. With listening to my peers interviews I gathered that the majority of people’s faith and beliefs have gotten stronger in this pandemic. People have turned to their faith in this great time of need for added strength to get through this difficult time period. Furthermore, I learned many different ways people were helping out people of their religious communities and people that were not involved in their religious communities. I have been able to use some of these ideas learned from these interviews to help people of my community. Being there for members of your community is very important to come out of this pandemic as strongly as possible.
