Hoppers (a.k.a. garbage collectors excluding drivers) employed by Metro Services Group through a temp agency are on strike and have subsequently been fired. The hoppers are on strike to demand PPE and hazard pay during the COVID-19 pandemic. Metro Services Group replaced striking hoppers with prison laborers who are paid below minimum wage.
