Description (Dublin Core)

During the pandemic, clubs on campus had to be rather innovative with their volunteering events. In-person events that would typically garner a multitude of students to volunteer in the early mornings during the weekend were no longer practical, as social distancing led to stringent measures that required at-home mandates. With that, clubs were met with a challenge: How could we still keep the interests of students in events and ensure that seniors still earn their hours for graduation stoles/stashes? It was a persistent question that undoubtedly loomed in everyone's mind. A picture that I took a screenshot of was one of the events that GGHS Alpha Leo held, called the Leolympics which had three events. One of them was through an app called Charity Miles; where running or walking three miles would earn a member one point. This event not only promoted mental and physical wellness for students at home, it also provided a catalyst for students to move their bodies in a time when the only source of movement would come from walking to the fridge to get a snack or the restroom. This picture best represents my current experience as a junior in high school because volunteer events are back in full swing! Attending marathons, walks, and other volunteering events definitely sums up most of my weekends as a junior in high school. My accomplishments would be attending at least one event a week and I faithfully enjoy going to these events. I am looking forward to volunteering at the Rose Float Parade the most near the end of December. Many memories have been made with my friends during the past few months, and I am looking forward to more to come :D
