Text (Omeka Classic)

You don't ever understand the severity of something until it affects your own life. My mom is a nurse at major hospital in my county that has a large amount of coronavirus cases in it and every time she leaves for work, I get chills knowing that she could contract the virus, putting her own life in danger. If you had asked me about the situation a couple weeks ago, I would have made a joke about the whole thing, but now that someone in my life is very susceptible to getting it, my whole perspective has changed on the matter. I have began to stay inside and isolated, with the only reason for leaving is that I too work in health care at a local convalescent home in my area, which is another reason for me to be staying inside. I have began to encourage others to the same because what started off as a joke to many, is no laughing matter anymore and should not be taken lightly by anyone. If I can change my way of living for the people I love, so can you.
