One thing that I have always wanted to do is have a home recording studio. I have been playing music for over half of my life and I have loved every second of it. I might not be the best musicians but I have fun when I play and it is a freeing experience. When COVID-19 hit and caused a shelter in place order where I live at first I was very depressed as most of the things I enjoyed doing I was no longer able to do them. However, I decided to take the opportunity that this was giving me to make something that I have always wanted. So I purchased a few necessary pieces of equipment namely a audio interface, a mic stand, and guitar cables. I already had a good PC that I built so I found a good deal on a recording software and purchased Cubase Pro 10. I also purchased a few VST plugins that would give my instruments the sounds that I desired as well as a virtual drum machine in order to make the drum beats to the songs I was writing. Learning how to record myself has been a fun adventure and it certainly has not been easy especially when it comes to mixing the tracks when I am finished with them. I don't know when things will return to normal but finally I feel like I have something I can pour my energy into that is constructive that will stop my feelings of stir craziness.
