Incarcerated people are humans, with human rights
This series of Tweets illustrates the number of Covid cases inside of prisons that go largely unnoticed by the general public. It also points to a larger problem of seeing "inmates", those who should be referred to in people first language as incarcerated persons, as fully human. -

Using Humor to Deal with the Pandemic
These memes that I have taken from various social media sites that I visit. They help to show how some people are processing the global pandemic through the use of humor and memes to deal with their feelings of anxiety and fear for the future. I have taken part in this and often search the various hashtags for pandemic memes when I am feeling anxious about the pandemic. Many of my friends too share these kinds of memes with each other in our group chats or on their own blogs. -

Does the COVID-19 Pandemic Trend Influence the Virality of Trends?
Trends define a generation. As someone who is interested in observing the rise and falls of trends, I was interested to see how the pandemic would influence the virality of trends. After all, most people are cooped up in their homes with not much entertainment. The rise of the social media app TikTok, coupled with the power of viral trends, combine together to influence the fads and trends of this generation. -

What would you do if we could turn back time before COVID-19?
What would you do if we could turn back time to a period before COVID-19? Asking this question today could possibly lead to many answers. Unfortunately, life, as we know it, has drastically changed as conditions have worsened. The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely changed the lives of so many people, and throughout this period many have experienced various overwhelming emotions. My life personally had been turned upside down from the start. Before the initial start of this pandemic, I was a seventeen-year-old girl working two jobs, a varsity cheerleading co-captain, an AP and honors student pertaining to various extracurriculars, and was about to make the most important decision of my life regarding my college education. As much as I was overwhelmed throughout this period I was determined to keep going regardless. But in a short span of time, after that, I had lost my two jobs and the remainder of my senior year in high school. The rapidness of these events had definitely taken a toll on my mental state of mind not knowing what came next. While the weeks continued we were all placed under quarantine not being able to leave our homes unless for essential purposes. The world had completely shut down in such a short period of time. And with much contemplation among myself, it took a period of time until I was able to completely adjust to what seemed to be a new lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect in the next couple of months left me in a state of cluelessness, and to think that others can relate to this feeling as well. So with selecting this phrase, “Has anyone tried unplugging 2020 for 10 seconds and plugging it back in?” Is such a critical way to ask what would we do take back ten seconds to what used to be our normal life? And as much as I would want to return to relive all my experiences that I have lost due to this pandemic, this time of isolation has served me for a time of revaluation of my own personal values. While many hepatic issues are happening in this world right now, I personally think that this time is what you make out of it while that be a positive or negative change in your life. As will never know what life will bring us next. -

6 million masks in. 50,000 people out.
This Tweet from REFORM Alliance explains they have gotten six million masks into correctional facilities across the nation by using the 10 million dollar donation from Twitter's CEO, Jack Dorsey. And 50,000 people have been released. The accompanying video explains that if the nations 2.4 million incarcerated people become ill and go to outside hospitals there will be no hospital space for anyone else. If that isn't enough to make you care they pose the question, do any incarcerated people deserve a defacto death sentence? -

Don't Talk, Just Listen
I was moved by a photograph that I saw of a protestor holding this painting in what appears to be a peaceful march in Sacramento, California. The message is clear - it is time for America's leaders, and for all of America, to listen. -

We Will Find a Way
This picture demonstrates the enormity of the Covid-19 situation that we are in as a country through the measures put in place to protect the priest and the baby being baptized. It is important that while we have to obey certain sanctions put in place, we still find, as a religious community, ways to practice our beliefs within the restrictions. -

Gab Grieco's personal experience with the archive
I have been consistently posting material on the archive since we started contributing the archive as a class. I’ve given my interpretations of events or personal experiences throughout my posts, and I think my posts point out some small but important parts of this pandemic that would have otherwise been brushed under the rug. I aimed to focus on the ways the live music industry was affected by Covid. Since many of the venues I go to in New York have been closed down and are in jeopardy of never reopening, I thought it would be best to give my thoughts on those examples while I also wanted to show the rippling effects the governmental lockdowns had on a number of industries. The shutdowns of these venues really affect many other industries — there are entire businesses, bartenders, performers, comedians, artists, and activists who are negatively impacted by these shutdowns. I've seen people who work at my internship get laid off because the company, an events booking company and publication, is not making any money at the moment. Yet, while I notice that a lot of my friends or artists I like are not making a lot of money during this time, I’ve seen so many great fundraisers put together by these musicians to help other groups of people who are disproportionately affected by the virus and shutdowns. I searched for new content through social media, news sites, and personal accounts. I found myself actively and coincidentally finding material to post, whether it be reading an article or hearing about an “online concert” from friends and coworkers. I tried to diversify my material while attempting to stay in the realm of the live music business. For example, I gave an account of my purchase in support of the Groundswell Rapid Response Fund through the music-buying site Bandcamp (almost like iTunes), while I also posted an article explaining how California lawmakers had amended laws in favor of the gig economy, which directly affects musicians and artists. I wanted to post pieces from both large publications and small publications to hear diverse voices and to understand the pandemic through different perspectives. -
