US will end Covid-19 testing requirement for air travelers entering the country
This is a news story from CNN by Kaitlan Collins. The CDC is expected to lift the requirement for air travelers to test negative for COVID before entering the US. The travel industry has been lobbying the CDC for months regarding this issue after it was no longer determined that the restrictions are no longer "based on the science and data." However, just because it is getting lifted now, the CDC does have the power to reinstate this restriction if a new variant develops and causes concern. -

Humorous Memes
During quarantine I collected many humorous memes about staying at home and the problems that brought. All sorts of subjects were covered: cooking, getting along with your spouse/roommates, homeschooling the kids, learning to bake bread, being stuck at home, sanitizing, facemasks, people hoarding toilet paper, boredom, effects of isolation, etc. Here are a few of those memes. -

Air Travel
Despite health warnings from the CDC, air travel in the US exceeded 1 million daily passengers for three consecutive days since last Saturday. If you're planning to travel, the health agency recommends getting tested one to three days before the trip and three to five days afterward. They also encourage you to "reduce non-essential activities for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative.” -

The Road Home & the dust on my feet
I returned to the Philippines from London in June, and I wanted to make sure that my experience was catalogued among others like it. I'm planning to add more entries, but this is the first. I wrote it out very like a report, and the succeeding entries will likely expound a little bit more about the experience, firsthand, of bureaucracy on the ground, and the people it most affects; how slowly the government response arrives, and who bears the brunt of this inefficiency. -

Man Banned from Flight Because He Refused to Wear a Face Mask
A "mask war" developed in June 2020. Many states mandated that people must wear masks at all times to protect people around you in case you are infected with COVID-19. Some people took that as an assault on their civil liberties, refused to put a mask on, and made an issue out of it. Wearing a mask became politicized, with many Trump supporters and conservatives coming out against mask-wearing. Here is one conservative activist purposely defying the mask rule on American Airlines. He got kicked off the flight, which is what he seems to have wanted to happen.
