The Life Through Quarantine
There was nothing to do because places would be closed. So it was boring throughout quarantine. It was boring because events were being postponed. The main way I spent my quarantine was playing video games due to not being able to go outside. Then we’ll have to wait till places opened up. -

COVID-19 1 year later
I found this tweet to be funny and also interesting as people look back on COVID as it has been over a year since it started. Many people, myself included, were not doing much of anything in the end of March 2020 except for following all the simple rules put out there to keep people from spreading the disease, like you hear when you're 5 (don't put your hands in your mouth, wash your hands, etc). This tweet reminded me of how far we have come from when we were not able to do simple activities we had always done like go to school and work and how people's actions have changed over time, even when the pandemic was still present. -

Saving the World
The meme about the Covid 19 pandemic describes the differences in how people were cooperating to save the world together, comparing the WWII images from the front and the image of the man sitting on his phone in bed in 2020. Referring to the fact that in 2020 in order to help save the world people had to quarantine at homes rather than fighting in the fields. -

Online Learning
My experience with remote learning was tough and hard. It was hard to stay focused while you're in your home theres so much stuff to do. Having no one to physically talk to or have lunch with is boring and it makes it harder to want to do school. School was already boring and hard but having no one around you to talk to you was even harder. -

Oh the places we will not go for now.
This image describes how quarantine was in a nutshell because nobody could go outside or visit any other countries, I submitted this so kids could have a little laugh while learning about this horrible tragity. -

Filling the time whilst working in fast food
HIST30060 During this year, I was luck enough to still be able to work in my fast food job due to the JobKeeper program, which saw the government paying the wages of part time and full time staff, as well as certain casuals. I would work 2 to 3 shifts a week in the city, which allowed me time to get out of the house and socialise with my coworkers. Restrictions meant we did not receive many customers, with our main source of income coming from the delivery platforms my boss installed. Despite this work, it did not mean I was able to escape the boredom most faced during the prolonged periods of restrictions, as there is only so much cleaning you can do in the periods where we had no customers. To fill the time, I began recreating famous paintings I could find online in miniature form, using the materials I could find in store, such as white board markers and receipt paper. Pictured here is my attempt at recreating Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ (bottom left), the ‘Great Wave off Kanagawa’ by Hokusai (right), and Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’ (top left). -

Playing Xbox Through Covid
As we all know it Covid has taken over the entire world including my hometown Boston. With the disease being easily spreadable there are many precautions and restrictions put in place to keep the city and surrounding areas safe from contracting and spreading the disease. I myself was not left with much to do during this time so I knew that I needed to come up with some sort of hoppy or activity to keep me occupied. I decided to buy a Xbox to fulfill my needs so I would not be left with nothing to do while hanging out in my dorm or bedroom. Playing xbox provided me with a virtual place that I was am able to escape to while being quarantined in my certain location, as well it took my mind off the implications and surround stress of covid. I am also able to travel with the xbox, taking it from place to place during the pandemic so that I would not ever find myself bored and stressed with nothing to do -

The Quite and Still Months
Throughout the pandemic it was quite difficult to do anything without getting tired of it. We could barely do anything to keep ourselves entertained while in the house. During these times my brothers and I played a lot of playstation and thats why i believe this object is so important, a playstation controller. This controller and console helped to keep us sane during such a crazy time. -

Trying New Hobbies
This sums up what the beginning of the pandemic was like for me. I was bored as hell, and I just wanted to do something I thought would be a productive use of my time. So when I looked at the guitar in the corner of my room I figure I give it try. Besides, it was just collecting dust anyway. I feel like everyone was trying new things or new hobbies to make up for being inside for so long. Especially if you have a big family like me. The funny thing is that after about four weeks, I just stopped playing. I think I'll get back into it soon. -

The World Exists in the Palm of My Hand
The object I'm submitting does not only show us its important during this Pandemic but in everyday life. This object has merely existed for no more than 30 years but has had profound impact on our society. Companies Like Apple Inc. and Samsung Group have made fortunes seeing these items to us. The object that I believe has made a massive impact on my life and the lives of many people around the world are cellphones. These small bricks of metal and plastic seemingly run the world. They control humans and push forward everything from the spread of information to entertainment. Without my phone to keep me entertained, connected, informed and busy; the quarantine and the Pandemic in general would have been much hard. Anywhere in the world I connect and communicate with anyone. During a time when we weren't allowed to leave home phones became a lifeline for communication. I find it very interesting that before the Pandemic people would blame phones for the lack of human contact. Now that the Pandemic has been in full swing the only form of contact we have is through these phones. -

Mom!!! Is the coronavirus over yet?
This drawing from the Seattle Times was released on March 13, 2020. Now five months later, this cartoon is relatable to mothers all across the country not just in Washington when it was thought to be the epicenter of the Covid pandemic. Our new norm includes masks, social distancing, and enforced closeness with our family. Most parents are still working remotely while most schools are still not back to normal. Putting the mom shame aside, I would say that after months and months of this I have found that too much togetherness is too much of a good thing. -

New Hobbies
One I heard we were going to be stuck at home for a while I thought “This gives me the chance to do something I’ve always wanted to do.” That thing is working out. I was never one to be active before, much less working out, but I pushed myself. I looked up some good workouts and I eventually got an app that helps me out with everything. Me doing that made me sleep better and even feel better. This really gave me something to do instead of being bored all day. -

Fighting Boredom
Going into that Ross store, I wasn’t thinking about leaving there with a jean jacket, I was just thinking about how my clothes were no longer starting to fit because I gained a little weight since quarantine started. I spent a couple of minutes in the Ross store and then my older sister came up to me and asked me if I’d want to do something she saw on tik tok. I asked her what it was and she said she wanted to paint the backs of some jean jackets and personalize it. I liked the idea so we then went to go ask my little sister if she wanted to participate and she said yes. Then all of us went up to my parents to ask if they could buy the jackets for us. They agreed. That night we started looking at pictures of the Powerpuff Girls to see what picture we’d want to paint on the jacket. My oldest sister got Bubbles, I got Blossom, and my little sister got Buttercup. Within the next day we had all the things needed to paint the jackets and finished them within a week of getting the jackets. The jackets are important to me because it makes me feel closer to my sisters when I look at it or have it on. It reminds me of a time during quarantine when we all bonded. -

Screen Time During the Pandemic
In quarantine I haven’t had much to do, so the majority of the time I spend on my phone, watching videos, playing games, watching shows on Netflix, or just texting/calling my friends to keep in touch. I think this says a lot about how the pandemic has affected my personal life and my activities. Whereas I used to go out to eat with friends and family or just meet up at someone’s house, or the park to hang out. I cannot do these things anymore so instead I pass the time on my phone. -

Boredom Hike
I’ve uploaded pictures of my hike to signify my boredom through this time. With just staying home, going on walks or hikes was like an event in your day/week. I don’t normally take pictures during my hike because it takes a lot to get good pictures and it’s a mostly boring desert when hiking. I was so bored that I decided to challenge myself and try to take good pictures on this mediocre hike. This is the type of little thing about this pandemic that everyone can relate to. I never would have done this without quarantine. -

You can't outpizza the hut
Once school was out and there was nothing to do but stay home every single day, it gets kind of depressing. I was use to being in two sports, school, five clubs, volunteer work, etc. So the stop of nothing drove me crazy. What has kept me sane during this time is having something to do, and the only thing you can do right now is work. So I began to work at Pizza Hut. Better to do something and earn a little money on the side than just watch TV all day. Surprisingly I was allowed to work because this was my first job and I wasn't allowed to work until I turned 18. -

Pandemic
Staying at home locked up is very odd. It takes a toll on your mental health because you are not able to see your friends or anyone outside your immediate family. It is hard to connect with others and you will see the other side of most people's personalities. Letting yourself be who you are is very important. Taking time to do what you love (if possible) is a great way to let out steam. Workouts and staying fit as well as movies and video games are good ways to spend time. The pandemic of 2020 will always be remembered, likely not fondly. -
