topic_interest is exactly onlineschool
2021-05-06T03:04:26At the start of this whole pandemic i was hanging out with friends and doing all of my usual stuff. But then people i cared about caught the virus and died from it. So i have lost a lot. And the online classes is the worst thing i could ever do, because i feel like i haven't learned a single thing except for the fact that i hate online class. Due to this i think i may fail a lot of my classes which puts me way behind then where i'm supposed to be.
2020-03-09The year 2020 feels like a never-ending nightmare. January and February of 2020, were just like any other ordinary month. I was getting my life together, planning my year out. I had gotten a new job as a patient care technician, I was going to Japan in the summer, and was hoping to be a resident assistant at one of the abroad programs in the summer as well. I remember being in the student union waiting for Josh Peck to arrive as a guest star at Duquesne. My friend asked me about my trip to Japan and if I was still going. Thinking back to it, I wish I weren’t so naïve. I told my friend how I was not worried and that it should all be fine. I was not expecting the impact it would have to how the world functioned. As Spring Break came along, I began training for my job as a PCT. I was ready to start work but that was when we started to get information about universities around us closing. I thought it would be any day now that Duquesne would also follow. A week after we got back from break is when Duquesne finally decided to close. Once I got home, it took a while for me to adjust to the new teaching style. While doing so however, I also took on some new interest and hobbies. First, my family and I worked on a renovating my room. We built a new bed frame, painted my room, and redid all my furniture. At the same time, I started to cook and bake every single day. In all the craziness of online school and renovations, I found comfort in the kitchen and working out in my basement. I would always find some new recipe to try out and because of my excitement, I would spend most of my time of the day in the kitchen. While doing so, I found time to workout so that I did not gain COVID weight. I was lucky enough that my classes for spring semester was comparably easier than my past semesters. This helped in being able to continue my hobbies and do online school. Starting back Fall semester was another challenge I faced. It was the start of my senior year and it felt depressing. It was supposed to be an exciting year and I was ready to get involved more around campus. However, with the new policies set, I do not get to see my friends often, or ever. Classes are more difficult to follow along because of the hybrid system and while I am supposed to be getting ready to be a nurse in a year, my experience in clinicals are being reduced. In all the darkness that COVID brought however, I am hoping with the new vaccine that we will start moving towards a normal life again. I cannot wait for the day I can be with people without the concern of COVID.
2020-12-10I heard about a virus out break in China from the news and I heard it was speeding to different countries but it was 2 weeks later when I found out it was in our state. I heard it wasn't bad to kids so I wasn't worried. later that week my school announced that we were going to do virtual school. it wasn't that different after that the only thing was different was school I still went skating at the park in my community, surfing at the beach outside my house and went mountain biking in the Mountains behind my house. covid isn't that bad I just don't get so see my friends that don't live in my community.
2020-03-15Well, for me I can say it wasn't that much of a change due to the fact that I go to a school where our school work revolves around technology, and we use technology almost everyday in order to complete what is being asked of us. Only this time we would be on our technology the whole time we were at school, due to the fact that this is the only way to communicate to each other ,to complete projects and assignments. hen again, like I said, it really wasn't that much of a change and I am so thankful for this due to the fact how I already am on a computer all the time as it is. To be honest I do feel bad for kids who don't have the privilege of what we have at my school cause it could take some time for them to adapt to this new environment that they are being exposed to. But who knows they might have fun with it and make the best of it, which is good. My brother and sister are just now starting school online and my brother loves it but not so much my sister cause she does get shy which is understandable, but she has just always been that way. But they seem to be doing ok, they keep on asking me for help on how to check emails, how to log on to zoom and google meets, but it makes me very happy that they feel that they can come to me and ask for help because thats what Im here for, them and it means the world to me. I remember gauge was panicking cause he thought he was going to be late cause he didnt know how to use google meets so I had to help him and he gave me the biggest hug, almost like I just saved his life. My sister got the hang of it pretty fast which I knew was gonna happen cause she's a wiz at literally everything, her and my dad and my mom and brother are the smartest people I know. I do have to admit adapting to this new environment is a little frustrating due to the fact how some of us (my brother and sister) might not know how to do everything right away, but we have to keep in mind that right now even if we are in a tough situation that we just have to be there for eachother and we have to help each other in order for everything to be normal again.
