He also points out that he disagrees with so many precautionary measures being dropped. These viewpoints are important as it shows that even though many mandates, regulations, and laws meant to prevent COVID-19 have been lifted, COVID-19 is still around and causing many problems for people. -

I came across this conversation on a neighborhood app (Nextdoor) of a grandmother pleading for masks and vaccines after learning that one of her grandchildren was exposed to the virus in the classroom. I added a bit of the thread as well to show the different opinions on the matter. -

While many on my social media feed are in arms about tighter vaccine regulations, some realize that the pandemic is not over. As the new school year starts there are many mothers who share in my fear. Covid is still alive and well, new strains continue to form breeding in the bodies of the unvaccinated. The worse part is that this time the elderly seem much safer than our children. Our children are being sent back to school, life has returned to "normal" as the number of hospitalized children continues to rise. I share my fears with this friend who popped up on my feed this morning. Will our kids be safe? Will my daughter get infected? Will there be another lockdown? I too feel like it's become too much to ask for my kids to simply be happy and healthy because both now depend on the actions (or misactions) of others. -

La tercera ola de contagios de covid-19 parece haber llegado a Coahuila, toda vez que de golpe los nuevos casos subieron en las últimas 24 horas de 20 a 108, según el reporte diario de la Secretaría de Salud estatal. En estos nuevos casos se incluyen 9 defunciones, ocurridas en 4 municipios del estado, que son liderados por Torreón en donde se registraron 5 de los decesos; en tanto que Saltillo reportó 2 y los municipios de Nava y Piedras Negras, uno en cada lugar; de ellos, sólo uno no estaba reportado como persona enferma. The third wave of covid-19 infections appears to have reached Coahuila, as new cases suddenly rose in the last 24 hours from 20 to 108, according to the daily report of the state health department. These new cases include 9 deaths, occurring in 4 municipalities of the state, that are led by Torreón where 5 of the deaths were recorded; while Saltillo reported 2 and the municipalities of Nava and Piedras Negras, one in each place; of them, only one was not reported as a sick person. -

Dealing with Covid at work has been the worst thing that has happened to me. I was at work and had just found out that one of my close co-workers had tested positive for Covid. I was shock. Everyone at my job was scared but in honest truth I was just relax because I knew I didn't have it. Thought wrong. A week after I started to feel a little light headed but I figured it was normal. I had went to go get tested just in case and believe it or not my test came back Positive as well. -

One of the first things my parents did when they retired and moved to Arizona was find a church. I was very vocal about wanting them to wait to return to large group gatherings but for some strange reason, they seemed to think that they couldn't get covid in church. My mom thought that after all the hardships brought on by the pandemic she needed to be back in church. A month later my dad got sick. We all naively thought it was the flu until I saw the shortness of breath. I told him to get sick and sure enough, he tested positive. Two weeks later my mom contracted Covid. I was hoping it wouldn't hit them too bad but my mom is a diabetic and they are older (late 50's and mid 60's) so I was a bit worried. As the days went by neither of them was getting better. My parents were sick through the holidays, I made Christmas dinner and we ate "together". I dropped off food at their front door then went to their back window where my kids and I ate picnic style. After three visits to the ER for my dad and four for my mom we finally started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I have lost many people to Covid, but it never hit me as hard as when I thought I was going to lose my parents. Thankfully, it was a massive lesson learned for my parents that covid spreads even in the church. -
2020-08-17Surprise Birthday Driveby
It was my 64th Birthday and I was down and out on the couch with Corona Virus. I got a phoncall from my daughter asking me to go to the front window. I told her I could barely get off the couch and I had a fever. She told me to bring my phone and video tape my grandson skateboarding. He had just learned a few new tricks. So I managed to make it to the window and to my surprise horns started blowing and cars began driving by my front window. It was a Birthday drive by ! I was in shock. They truly fooled me ! At first I couldn't tell who all these people were but after they circled around a couple of times I began recognizing people. It was my family and friends. They came from as far as Los Angeles County. Even my 96 year old mother was there ! I truly felt love -

Covid Systems
When Covid started I didn't know much about it. All I knew was it was like another flu and it was another virus. After a few months of Covid, I started to have friends and family who got it. Some of the symptoms my aunt and her sister had was a loss of smell and taste and they had fevers and were kind of fatigued. My old basketball coach got it and he had the same symptoms. Many many people have got it all over the world and I'm glad that I only know a few people who have it, and are fortunate that most of my friends and family are healthy. -

A grandpa drives 30 minutes to bring his granddaughter and her boyfriend some food and board games after finding out they were Covid positive. One commenter said, "Protect that man at all costs". Such a sweet and loving gesture. -

An Unexpected Return
After being out sick for a week filled with chills, doctors appointments, the smell of soup, and the feeling of my warm blanket, I finally returned to school on Friday. I could see the empty classrooms, hear the quiet rooms, smell the hand sanitizer, touch the desks and door handles with precaution, and taste the uneasiness in the room. I heard whispers of people talking about “the coronavirus”. I saw people wiping down their desks and chairs. I smelt of constant cleaning supplies. I felt my heart beating faster than normal. This were all new senses that were coming to me in one day. I was confused and scared of the uncertainty of it all. I was barely comprehending and my mind was filled with thoughts and heat full of emotion. Little did I know, that was my last day of school. -

When My Fever Broke
I fell seriously ill on March 23, 2020. I vividly remember my body being hit with extreme chills and my skin was hot to the touch. I remember being so cold that I needed two blankets to keep warm while experiencing a high fever. Even though I I felt deathly sick, I denied the thought of even having Covid for some reason. However, in the middle of the night I woke up coughing and I knew I had it. I immediately quarantined and contacted anyone that I had contact with to let them know that I might be infected with Covid-19. At the time, there wasn’t an easy way securing a test for Covid-19. A friend referred me to a private clinic to get tested. I was finally able to get tested on March 25, 2020 and the next day the doctor called me to tell me I tested positive with Covid-19. Fortunately for me, my worst day was the first night. I suffered a mild fever for about 7 days straight. This is the only photo I took during my whole quarantine. It’s a photo showing when my fever finally broke. When the thermometer showed a temperature 98.2 degrees, a wave of relief fell over me. It was so surreal at the time and I wanted to provide a snapshot of a moment in time of my Covid experience. -

If you've ever worked in food service you know you don't call in sick even when you are violating food safety rules. It's hard to find a job in food service, it's even harder to keep that job, and you can't afford to lose that job.
