Absurdist (pandemic) humor
Sometimes I feel as though the people grifting off of the pandemic and people willingly sharing misleading information for political reasons just do not care about the harm being caused. It is also strange because many people seem to enjoy, like Squidward here, being a bearer of “fake news”. -

Organ Transplant Debate: Get Vaccinated or Move Down the List
This article discusses the debate between patients who are unvaccinated and those who are vaccinated. Should it be a requirement for a transplant patient to get the vaccine? Being unvaccinated puts not only the patient at-risk for contracting COVID-19, but it exposes doctors, nurses, and other patients as well. Several states have already made it a requirement to get the vaccine before being placed on the organ transplant list. -

COVID Meme of The French Dispatch Cast
A photo of The French Dispatch cast at the Cannes Film Festival generated a lot of memes. This meme is relevant because it was a popular image in 2021 that combined the reality of the pandemic, when several vaccines were available. -

Volunteering at the University of Arizona Vaccine POD
The University of Arizona ran a drive-thru and walk-up vaccine POD for six months in 2021. During that time they provided more than 240,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the Southern Arizona community. I volunteered at the POD for 10 shifts between February 2021 and May 2021, helping with traffic control to get as many cars safely through the stations, with observation to ensure everyone was okay after receiving their vaccine, and with registration to help get information all ready for the nurses giving the vaccine. It was great to be a part of the solution and helping people protect themselves and other community members. One woman, while waiting to get her shot, told me how excited she was to be able to hug her grandchildren again. She started crying because she was so relieved to see her family and feel safe doing it. It was a great atmosphere at the University of Arizona and everyone was working together for each other. Something I will never forget and that I'm proud to have been a part of. The photo is from my first shift in the observation area on the Mall, waiting for the POD to open and line cars up for observation post-vaccine. -

Hoping for herd immunity
During covid my wife and I feel we are very lucky to be senior citizens. We are able to stay at home for long periods of time. We were able to get vaccinated early. We do not have to worry about our jobs or businesses. Our children are grown up, safe and vaccinated. We were able to have time to cook and clean our house ourselves. We watched with horror as people who could not get vaccinated died. Then we watched with horror as people who were able to get vaccinated and chose not to, died unnecessarily, whether for political reasons, fear, or misguided individualism. We grew up with many vaccinations. I made a list -- smallpox, measles, mumps, german measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, pneumonia, seasonal flu, shingles, also yellow fever (required in 70s) and cholera for traveling. It is astounding to me how a percentage of our population does not get vaccinated. Some of the military has apparently declined covid vaccination, but 100%of them received a mandatory batch of vaccines when they enlisted – it is difficult to understand that logic. My hope for the future is that we can get to 80% covid vaccinated in the USA. Experts speculate that may be the herd immunity threshold. More hopes are that the rich western world can vaccinate the poor parts of the world quickly to save lives there and to prevent newer covid mutations. And final hopes are that we can fully return to the full life we so enjoyed in Santa Monica before covid. -

新型コロナ“口から飲む”ワクチンの治験開始 米(2020年10月14日) - Clinical trial for the new corona "drinking from the mouth" vaccine has started in the US (October 14, 2020)
This is a news about another form of vaccine. Honestly, I am skeptical about this vaccine because recently, there were news regarding the suspension of clinical trials of the vaccines due to the side effects. This news video does not talk about any side effects and negative parts about the vaccine. I do not have any hopes for this vaccine either because clinical trials are conducted too fast, despite the potential of side effects. Regarding the development of a vaccine for the new coronavirus, the American pharmaceutical company "Vaxart" has begun its clinical trials of an oral vaccine that can be taken in from mouth. Vaxart announced on the 13th that they have started the initial clinical trial of an oral vaccine for the new coronavirus that is under development. The subjects are up to 48 people aged from 18 to 54 years old, and it is said that the effect will be confirmed by administering twice for each subject. According to Vaxart, it will be the first clinical trial in the United States for an oral vaccine for the new coronavirus. Injectable vaccines usually need to be stored at low temperatures, but oral vaccines are stable at room temperature and easy to transport. The results of early Vaxart trials are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
