Three Sisters' Patriots Day Parade, Concord, MA
Three sisters raised in Concord, MA take up the American flag, fife, and drum and march up to Old North Bridge and subsequently through Concord Center to commemorate Patriots Day in Concord, MA, one of the battle sites in the Battle of Lexington and Concord that sparked the American Revolution. Due to COVID-19, the famed Patriots Day Parade in Concord has been cancelled in both 2020 and 2021, and the Concord Minutemen--mainstays for the parade's performers--have been unable to play for the holiday. These three sisters, during both 2020 and 2021, took initiative to keep the long-standing tradition alive for the town and others who are typically attracted to Concord on this historical day. One of the sisters, the fifer, is a member of the Concord Minutemen. -

Homemade Mask Meme
I took this photo of my brother when I went to visit him while he was living in Concord, Massachusetts, and I was studying remotely at home in West Springfield, Massachusetts. We had just come back from visiting Walden Pond for the first time. My brother was living with his best friend's grandfather at the time, and even though my brother did not leave the house much, he still wore a mask inside the house as a precaution. After he finished eating, my brother went to put his mask on again, except he aimed a little high. Thinking it looked funny, I took a picture and made it into a meme. I felt like having the mask cover his entire face was similar to a face-palm or banging one's head against the wall, somehow symbolic of the grind that pandemic life had become. -

Drive-in movies making a comeback
My family never abandoned drive-in movies. We have a local drive in located in Concord California. We pack up the car with couch cushions and blankets. Then back into the space and open up the hatch. My kids have always loved it and I don’t have to worry about them misbehaving and disturbing others enjoyment. -

Public History Takes a Forced Holiday
While Patriot's Day traditions are on hold this year due to the coronavirus, Monday remains a holiday. There are no classes scheduled, and Suffolk employees are off for the day. But history buffs will miss the traditional reenactment of "the shot heard 'round the world," and "Marathon Monday" is postponed until September. Professor Kathryn Lasdow, director of Suffolk's Public History concentration, explains the ties between the marathon and the commemorations in Lexington and Concord and offers some ideas for celebrating the holiday virtually. -

Going to work at Amazon during Covid-19
This photograph was taken at an Amazon Warehouse facility in Concord, North Carolina. In this image you are seeing all employees waiting in line 6 feet apart as they are scanned by a thermo type scanner measuring your body temperature to make sure you do not have a fever. If you have a fever an alarm is set to go off. Once you have demonstrated you do not have a fever then you are given a mask so that you can work. April 28th, 2020 9:00 EST
