If you have any symptoms
This is a Twitter update by nilikm. This person is a doctor warning people about the symptoms associated with COVID. The doctor advises people to assume they have COVID-19 anyway if they experience the following symptoms, even if they have had it before. The final piece of advice is to isolate longer than five days, as this doctor does not believe that is enough time. -

Maternity wards are shuttering across the US during the pandemic
This is a news story from Vox, written by Dylan Scott. Across the nation, maternity wards have been shutting down, making things more dangerous for new mothers. Due to these closures, there has been an increased number in deaths of both infants and pregnant women. These losses of maternity wards have been harshest on those of low income, as well as Black and Hispanic women. Part of these closures have happened due to shortages of doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff during the pandemic. The closure of more maternity wards also means women having to travel further to get the care they need. The timing makes this even more difficult during labor, as complications can happen during that, increasing chances of death. Overall, this article shows the ways that the ripple effects from COVID not only affect the mortality rates of mothers and babies, but disproportionately hurt poor, Black, and Hispanic women. -

Summer Vacation Plans
The coronavirus did not magically disappear by the Spring, and it doesn't look like the Summer heat is gong to make it go away any faster. In the tweet, we can say that for many people a summer vacation isn't going to be possible. Doctors and medical professionals are but some of the few people that are gong to be working hard through the summer to ensure that we are at least prepared come the Fall. This item was added TAGS v6.1.9.1. I originally searched under the hashtag #thisyearmysummervacation. Within that search, I have chosen to add the following tweet because it speaks towards a changed summer atmosphere for everyone bit especially medical professionals who are not going to be able to get a break. -

China's anti-epidemic hero — Wenliang Li
Wenliang Li was a doctor ophthalmologist who warned about the outbreak of COVID-19. Born in Beizhen, China, on Oct 12, 1986, he died after becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, China, on Feb 7, 2020, aged 33 years. On Dec 30, 2019, Li Wenliang sent a message to a group of fellow doctors warning them about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, where he worked. In fact, Li was one of the first people to recognize the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Wuhan. Li returned to work after signing the statement and was infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ( SARS-CoV-2), obviously from the patient. His death caused an uproar in China. The Chinese people expressed their gratitude for Li Guangyao's full-time service on the message board and criticized the preliminary reaction of Wuhan public security and medical staff to the warning. In the days before his death, Lee said in an interview with The New York Times: "If officials disclosed information about the epidemic earlier, I think the situation would be much better." He said: "Should There is more openness and transparency." I think Dr. Li made a major help that cannot be ignored for this outbreak, but it was not recognized in the early stages. Instead, government officials thought he was confusing people and wanted to make things bigger. His sacrifice made me feel very sad and sorry. -

Accessing Healthcare and Preparing for the Worst
The attached image is a screenshot from an Instagram story I posted on March 17, making light at the end of a few days of attempting to access medicine and joke about my growing confidence in my ability to handle the pandemic situation, even if I did end up ill. Directly following the declaration of a state of emergency in Ontario, in March, I realized I was running low on a maintenance prescription I take and had no refills left on it. To have my family doctor back home, in Ottawa, fax it to a pharmacy in the London, where I was attending the University of Western Ontario at the time, it usually costs $30 out of pocket, so I wanted to see if I could get an appointment before I tried that. I checked the student health website to see if they were restricting appointments and all seemed normal so I called. Plus, with my asthma and history of respiratory infections, I thought it would be a good idea to have a Flovent (steroid) puffer (inhaler) on hand in case I do get sick. I was on hold for 40 mins only to have the receptionist get exceptionally snarky with me and eventually tell me they were not taking regular appointments at that time. So, I called my family physician's office and they/she not only faxed the prescription I was low on but also the puffer and waved the renewal fee. The receptionist said many doctors are doing this to avoid people requesting in person appointments to have prescriptions done, as those are covered in socialized health care. Having the puffer available to me if I began having difficulty breathing is greatly reassuring both in that I would be less likely to require other medical intervention with it at my disposal, but also that I would not be taking up resources from someone who might have the disease worse or be at a higher risk than me, an otherwise health young woman. -

"The World Should Unite"
In 2020, when the Chinese New Year is approaching, a virus broke out in Wuhan that people have never seen before. After the New Year, the entire China began to fight against the outbreak. I feel deeply that in the early stage of the outbreak, there were countless young doctors in China who voluntarily signed up and applied to go to the place where the epidemic was most severe-Wuhan, the hero of the Chinese people, Grandpa Zhong Nanshan, arrived in Wuhan as soon as possible, which made us feel the most united It was during the epidemic that the Chinese people were able to obey the government's command to close the city, close the countryside, and close the community. The people stayed at home and did not go out, so that the epidemic did not spread so quickly. The virus is also under control Here I want to thank the medical staff who traveled to Wuhan. You risked your life to protect me. You did not choose to back down and avoid, but chose to fight against the virus. You came forward. Many young doctors did not tell themselves Parents are afraid of them. Many attending doctors change their hair from black to white within a month. During this epidemic, many doctors unfortunately contracted the virus during the treatment and did not return to their hometown and died. The epidemic is on the front line. Here, I want to pay tribute to all the medical staff, to the dead medical staff, you have worked hard. I would also like to thank those who contributed to the epidemic, the staff of the Wuhan "Vulcan Mountain" Hospital and the "Raytheon Mountain" Hospital, you worked hard, you built the hospital in just ten days, it was shocked The speed of the world is the result of your work day and night, and you have worked hard. In this epidemic, I feel the unity of the Chinese people. Most people, following the government ’s decision, stay at home and do not go out. Songs written by singers to cheer for Wuhan, and painters painted for Wuhan, writers, many people use their own ways to cheer for China and cheer for medical staff. This makes us very moved. There are many entrepreneurs and workers. Both students and teachers donated money for the epidemic, and many large manufacturing companies began to produce masks and disinfectants. Chinese people are cheering for Wuhan in their own way, cheering for medical staff I would also like to thank other countries that helped China during the epidemic. When the epidemic broke out, many countries assisted China by donating, donating, sending medical teams to China, and refueling China in various ways, although there are Some complained to China, but people from all over the world also cheered for China. Many of our teachers even chose to stand with the Chinese people and stay in China even when the epidemic was serious. People from all countries said that they helped and cheered on China With a "thank you" China's epidemic situation is much better now. China will also try its best to help other countries. Only when we unite will the world be perfect. -
