  Fifth Anniversary of JOTPY email

  An email was sent to JOTPY collaborators on February 19, 2025 requesting they submit one more item to the archive prior to the Share Your Story form closing on 3/31/2025. The email was sent to over 250 people. The list was created by gathering emails from the JOTPY slack channel as well as the list of partners collected throughout the project. Some emails were undeliverable, likely due to students leaving/graduating or other moves over the five year period.

  SMhopes at the SMPL Teen Lounge

  A variety of submissions to the SMhopes website, designed as posters and banners by Paula Goldman, and installed in the Teen Lounge at the main branch of the Santa Monica Public Library. The Library asked for a variety of hopeful messages as they begin having students visit the Teen Lounge again.

  When I embarked on the journey that was the JOTPY internship, I was unsure of what it would entail. I knew there would be assignments centered around collecting information in regards to COVID-19, but I did not know the extent. I was very surprised to learnt that we would be in fact completing our own oral histories. At the beginning, it was easier to contribute items to the archive, and extremely fun. But, as the work got more in depth, things got tougher. I had dabbled in oral history before, but had only done it to the extent of transcribing myself. By being introduce to Otter AI, my job got a lot easier. However, I'm still not a fan of oral history transcription. This course/internship taught me a plethora of skills. These included working with a team, curating fro an archive, software skills and more which I hope to incorporate in my future classes and career. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and look froward to seeing it come full circle.

  I am a graduate fellow for A Journal of the Plague Year from Arizona State University and I have been sharing a link on social media to promote the Share Your Story page. This is a meme I created and posted to Facebook to ask people to contribute their stories.
