From lockdown to Europe
Traveling to another country has its difficulties and differences, especially when it happens after a worldwide lockdown. Seeing the way other countries operated in the wake of Covid-19 and the contrast of our own gave me a much larger point of view on how I process and see the entire world. Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands. These places were just as impacted by Covid-19 just as much as the United States of America, yet they seemed to handle things remarkably different. A year or so before Covid hit, my family and I planned a cross country road trip spanning the brunt of Europe, which then would amalgamate into a 2 week cruise to see even more places. Long story short, it was a dream trip. Yet, Covid hit, and we feared we would not even get the chance to go. Luckily, lockdowns cleared up a few months before our trip, though people across the world were still wary of the virus. Going on the trip meant masks everywhere, which we were prepared for. Everywhere we went, everyone was polite, kind, kept their masks on and their own personal space, as did we. Now, this was not the first time I'd visited some of these places, but seeing them in the wake of a worldwide contagion left me with a new perspective and outlook. -

Fake at STRAAT
This artwork is a reproduction of the famous work FAKE made on NDSM at the beginning of the Corona pandemic. Created using stencils, Super Nurse represents the many nurses who turn out to be true superheroes during the crisis. The work has gone viral worldwide, showing that street art is the perfect medium to address contemporary issues. -

Quote from the Streets
STRAAT is opening its doors on October 9! My work is on show in the new museum for street art and graffiti during the opening exhibition ‘Quote from the streets’. STRAAT is the museum for street art & graffiti. Here you will find artworks - canvasses as big as a building - and their stories that stay untold in the streets. Made by legendary icons and up-and-coming artists from all over the world. STRAAT strives to become the world’s most important center for an art form that was born on the streets of the city. STRAAT makes street art shine for everyone to see in a space that seems to be there just for that. You can visit the website for more information: www.straatmuseum.com. #STRAAT #fake #fakestencils #supernurse #straatmuseum @straatmuseum #stencilart #streetartmuseum -

“Spring Garden” – Van Gogh, a painting stolen by COVID-19 – Laren, the Netherlands
A painting on Loan to the Singer museum from the Groninger Museum was stolen overnight. The painting – “The Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Spring 1884” by Vincent Van Gogh now cannot be seen by the community and may not be seen again, removing a valuable piece of history and culture from people when they are potentially unable to have gotten the chance to see it due to coronavirus. The thieves smashed a glass door and ran off with the painting before security was able to find them. Debating Herd Immunity
I am pretty sure that I had the coronavirus in December. Speaking with friends and family members, there are multiple instance of people feeling as though they have already been sick and feeling comfortable about heading back out into the world. As evidenced by the study discussed in the article, this may not prove to be as smart as we imagined. This item was added TAGS v6.1.9.1. I originally searched under the hashtag #herdimmunity. Within that search, I have chosen to add the following tweet because it shares an article discussing herd immunity, a recent hot button issue that has been thrown around in the reopening debate.
