Travelers Nevertheless
Faced with the impossibility of international travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family embarked on an unplanned intrastate adventure that led to a deeper appreciation for the city of Los Angeles and for family members that call that city home. Along with posing serious day-to-day challenges, the pandemic created opportunities for new relationships with people and places. -

With museums shuttered, Paris churches are 'well worth a mass'
As France has continued to deal with lockdowns, one bright spot for the French people is that most of the churches remain open. These churches are serving, for many, as a source of art and culture as museums and theaters have remained closed. Despite the fact that many of the Catholic churches in France are missing some of their most historic items, the interest in the art and architecture of the cathedrals has been renewed during the pandemic. -

When I realized my life was going to change...
It is currently February 12, 2020. I am on the plane to go to Italy for 2 weeks on an extraordinary adventure with my friends from Oaks Christian. I land in Paris at first and I see the Eiffel tower as it is my birthday today. I couldn't have imagined my 13th birthday any better than to be in Paris. I have a great week touring all over Italy and I had np idea that my life was going to change forever. As I got to the airport in Italy to go back to California, they took my temperature and I thought it was very strange because they have never done that in the past. The security guard said because a new virus is appearing and they want to be cautious. I was kind of scared but I just looked past it. Then as we were in the airport one of the people in our group started throwing up everywhere and I got really nervous that they might have this new virus. I later realized she was fine but it was still scary. When I landed back into California, they I couldn't go to school for 2 whole weeks because the quarantined me because I was in Italy. I looked on my phone at the news and realized that Italy is surging with coronavirus cases. I ended up not have COVID-19 but it was still a time in my life I will never forget. -

Don't take it(fashion) away from me!
I chose this piece of media because this shows the intertwining of the government's edict to wear masks and fashion. This made me realize two things- first was that even in a pandemic like this, people still do want to improvise and try to earn money and secondly, beauty and fashion is what makes life worth living, as even in such a tumultuous time such as now, we find a way to overcome and make the world a brighter place;people will always find a way to put fashion and style in everything even in such a dangerous time as this. We see people even taking advantage of this new business venture, as when I was strolling around in Caesar's Palace, I saw a store selling Covid-19 related fashion clothes such as those in the picture above. This seems to be a compromise of the people and the government- "ok, we'll wear masks, but don't take it(the fashion) away from me!". -

Universal Studios Logo Now Visible Due to Decrease in Pollution Levels
Because human activity has decreased outside around the world because of the novel Coronavirus, pollution levels are decreasing. The Universal Studios logo has the word Universal in bold gray letters going around the earth. The creator plays with this concept, saying that the Universal Studios logo is now visible in our sky because of extreme decreases in pollution. This is a humorous but at the same time a dark concept hinting at the fact that humans are the problem and affecting the earth. Original text: Due to less air pollution the sky is so clear ! I can see the Universal logo ! -

"Diary of quarantine"
This project explores the consequences of the global pandemic of Covid-19 in my private life. Fear, tranquillity, anxiety, relief...are some of many feelings that we have been experiencing during the self-isolation; as an artist, everything I created during this moment have ended up relating to the present situation as it is undeniably affecting many sides of my life. Therefore, I decided to create a body of work that "like a private diary" would register what in the future will only be a memory. -

Sign in pharmacy, 11th arrondissement, Paris, France
In the week before I took this photograph, most pharmacies in Paris had handwritten signs in their windows explaining they were out of masks and antibacterial/alcohol gel. This one adds a welcome note of levity. A few hours after I took the picture, France shut all cafes, bars and non-essential shops for the foreseeable future. The pharmacy will, of course, remain open. -

Official sign on public transport in Paris, France
This official sign, reminding of the importance of good hygiene, appears on all public transport in Paris. This one - on a number 76 bus - has been doctored with the advice to take used handkerchiefs to the police station. It may represented a feeling that official advice is exaggerated, or simply anti-police sentiment.
