Running Out of Adoptable Pets
During the pandemic, shelters are having the best problem possible- there aren't enough homeless animals to meet the demand. It is a dream come true scenario for animal lovers everywhere. With more people working from home than ever before, families have more time to devote to a pet. Hopefully the trend will continue, and owners will not surrender their animals after life returns to normal. -

Trump Supporters and BLM Clash
Yesterday, thousands of Donald Trump supporters rallied in Washington DC to dispute the Presidential election results. Among those attending were white nationalists, conspiracy theorists, and alt-right activists. Throughout the day, Trump supporters violently clashed with BLM and abolitionist activists. I've had Trump supporters came at me a couple of times now. My favorite shots are the moments before they decide to make a move on me. Photo #9 is seconds before a woman decided to shove her bike in my direction. -

Naked Face
I started a new job in late June while much of the country was still on lockdown. Most of my coworkers were working remotely and those of us on-site strictly adhered to our face-covering policy. We slowly allowed staff, volunteers, and lastly, visitors on the property. A training program was developed for staff to guide visitor interaction, particularly concerning policy enforcement. In the photograph, Peter, our Artist-in-Residence is demonstrating a hand gesture we use when asking people to cover their face. There are multiple levels of strangeness associated with this photo, but the strangest of all is not knowing what my coworkers look like "naked," a term we appropriated to mean mask-less. -

Covid, Homelessness, and BLM
During the spring, I volunteered at the McKenna Center--a homeless shelter on N Capital St in DC. The man to my left in the picture in front of the shelter is a man named Johnny. He his from Bolivia and is the janitor at the center. Last spring I tutored him, and in return he cooked food for me and a few other volunteers to deliver to about 100 people every week. Some of the other photographs are fro the protests around the same time. -
