  Twenty One Pilots one of the first to release a song during lockdown, “Level of Concern”, to help relieve anxiety

  I think this item is really interesting, and it does fill an archival silence, about musicians and what they did in lockdown- if they stopped producing music, if they were even more eager to, etc. I first heard this song in the lockdown, and it made me feel like I was connected to the band- he was singing about the same things I was experiencing, I realized everyone was going through similar things in quarantine. I had never thought about what musicians and singers were doing, for some reason I thought their lives didn’t change much, but they did. I thought it was really cool Twenty One Pilots saw that people were down, stressed, etc. and wanted to relieve some stress with a song about the pandemic.

  "If Someone Shares the ‘Plandemic’ Video, How Should You Respond?" - The Atlantic Monthly

  The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated economic shock have created fertile conditions for the development and spread of conspiracy theories, especially about the nature of the pandemic. These conspiracy theories have begun to permeate the lives of many Americans, disrupting personal relationships through arguments and disgust. In an article for the Atlantic Monthly, journalist Joe Pinsker provides readers with advice on what to do if someone in their personal circle shares conspiracy theory videos, particularly the Plandemic documentary. Rather than be combative and insulting, Pinsker advises his readers to be emphatic and understanding. This allows readers to pivot the conversation toward addressing the conspiracy theorist's concerns, while also not causing them to be more entrenched in their positions. When these tactics do not work, however, Pinsker advises readers to give on them as a lost cause.

  Ramin Karimloo gave Youtube concert to raise money for healthcare workers

  On October 1, 2020, Ramin Karimloo, who starred in several musicals on West End, held a livestreamed concert on his Youtube channel to help raise money for healthcare workers. The charity he featured was Care Not Profit, a Canadian-based charity lobbying for living wages for people who work in for-profit long-term care facilities, better conditions for residents of those facilities, and better benefits for the workers.

  Youtube channel The Shows Must Go On! fundraising with a showing of Macbeth

  The Shows Must Go On! is a Youtube channel that started near the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The channel is owned by Universal, and so has rights to many popular musicals, including Andrew Lloyd Webber's. Periodically, they stream performances and keep them up for 48 hours. This production of Macbeth stars Sir Patrick Stewart and will be available for a week when it's aired 11/16/2020. While it's up, the channel will be using it to raise money for The Actor's Fund to help performers struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Santa has an international special permit and can give out presents to children around the world," Conte said on Facebook on the 12th. He added, "Santa said he was wearing a mask to keep a proper distance". To keep Tommaso's promise by the disinfectant under the tree for Santa Claus was a "great idea."   A friend whose child recently beat cancer started the Teddy Bear Foundation this last summer. He reads to children in both English and Spanish. Since he is no longer able to do so in person, he started a YouTube channel in order to read stories to children suffering from cancer.

  I had seen youtube videos of people making a “quarentine blanket” I did know how to crochet but i never took serious interest in it before. But now with all this time i said f it and i pulled everything out. I had so many things that i forgot i had, i was a little overwhelmed at first but after a couple youtube videos i figured out what everyting does and i got the hang of it. If we never had this pandemic, i would have never been able to take an interest in it and also i wouldnt have thought i could ever do it.

  Japanese Pokémon Cards Keep Me Sane.

  I chose to write about how Japanese Pokémon cards have helped to keep me sane. While it might seem silly at first, I am serious about this topic. I’ve been diagnosed with severe anxiety, and at one point went outside in a thunderstorm holding an umbrella because my mom wasn’t home when she said she would be. Being only 6 at the time, I didn’t really understand that her job doesn’t always end at the same time everyday since she is a professor at UWSP. Going back to the anxiety and Covid, I’ve gotten much better at handling my anxiety since then, but I cannot help but worry about my family. Due to my anxiety, I need to get confirmation that they are ok before I can fully relax. I am currently in my 3rd semester of Japanese. I’m also a huge nerd, so I really like Pokémon. I saw a video on youtube of a guy opening Japanese Pokemon cards, and it clicked in my head that I could distract myself by using Pokemon cards. Since I didn’t take any classes over the summer, I used that time to practice my Japanese by translating the cards to English and comparing them to the English versions of the cards from pictures I found online. Because I was able to do that , I was able to make it through my summer mostly anxiety free. It did cost a bit, roughly $50 US dollars for 20 packs of 7 cards, but it really did help keep me sane while the world went to hell and back.

  What If We Had Been Better Prepared?

  This story is important to me because I was raised to always be as well prepared as possible. In this video Bill Gates talks about options the worlds governments can take to help prevent and/or aid in global pandemics. The ideas he presents range in intensity, from increasing the amount of first responders to staging pseudo-war games for attacking the outbreaks most efficiently. The first time I remember a large scale disaster that could have been prevented, saved lives, time and money was the BP oil spill in the gulf of Mexico. The cost of the spill range from about 60 billion, reported by British Petroleum, to an estimated 140 billion. The spill and loss of lives, both human and oceanic, could have been prevented by the company implementing and following global operating policies for deep-water oil drilling.

  Homeschool Lesson: Substraction with Cuisenaire rods

  When first grade started virtually, I knew in 1 day that I’d have to homeschool my daughter. And while I know it’s the right thing to do for her, everyday I’m learning a little bit more about how to teach her. I started with the easy stuff, and even moved her schedule to Wed-Sun because I work full time and have to cook and clean and take care of a 2 year old, so sometimes it feels like there’s not enough time nor energy to get everything done. It’s not hard for me to get the literature curriculum up and running, but I’m lost when it comes how to teach math. I mean, I understand how it works, but I have no idea how to teach it effectively to a first grader who hasn’t done it before. I bought Cuisenaire rods in March thinking that I’d figure out how to use them over the summer. I didn’t figure it out. But, thankfully YouTube has some great videos that explain how to use and work with them. Yesterday we worked on addition, and today we started subtraction and it wasn’t hard or frustrating, it all felt kind of natural. So for the first time I’m feeling a lot better about teaching her until in-person classes start back up.

  The interviewee, Nate Hayner, describes his experience moving from his apartment in New York City to his parent’s house in Wisconsin. Initially, Nate believed covid was going to be like SARS and other virus outbreaks and only affect countries overseas, then he saw firsthand how bad it got New York City and moved out. He tells of how him and his parents took it seriously as he quarantined for two weeks in their basement. Next, Nate says that his biggest concern is that the pandemic appears to be driving a wedge in society. He elaborates on this by telling how he got tired of watching the news as it was so absurd and frustrating the inaccurate things they would report. Additionally, he expressed his concern on how people were believing in conspiracy theories and not following safety recommendations from local governments and spreading inaccurate information on social media. Then Nate describes how Covid made it hard to stay in contact with casual friends but easier to contact good friends via technology. He also explained how isolation being hard for extroverts and people who are not able to work and do not have a emergency fund to fall back on. Nate ends the interview by stating how the government should have taken planning for events like this more seriously and that in the future we need to be more prepared, the government should stockpile PPE and medicine and people should have a food stockpile and emergency fund as he feels we will probably see another pandemic in our lifetime.

  Sewing fabric masks

  This is a photo of my wife making a set of fabric masks for the family as no masks have been available to purchase. There were many patterns available to download online or instructional youtube videos. This design allows for one to insert a disposable tissue or paper wipe for additional protection. My wife wore her mask once or twice to the supermarket, other than that we have not had cause to use them.

  On Monday, April 27, WWOZ, a local radio station, streamed Piano Night From Our Homes to Yours via WWOZ's Facebook page, on our YouTube channel, and on WWOZ.org. The featured pianists captured their performances in their homes and sent them to WWOZ. Hosts, Cole and Missy, worked with the 'OZ video team to weave them together into one night of music. Piano Night is an annual benefit for WWOZ that takes place during Jazz Fest which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  Brownies all day

  Staying at home has given me a lot of time to bake many things and cook many things as well. One of my favorite things I've baked so far are my oreo brownies. You can simply get the recipe off google or youtube. All you do is make your brownie mix and pour half of it in the baking pan then place your oreos in it all over then add your remaining batter. its easy as that! I like to do all my dessert and food by myself because it makes me feel more accomplished that I did it by myself and I never need the help anyways. My mom goes and takes a walk for about an hour with my aunt every day and while they head out I get to baking, sometimes I do it when there home but I like to do it when its nice and quiet

This is an ASU-sponsored video that was published on January 29th, 2020. This video was made in response to the January 26th announcement that an anonymous member of the ASU community had been diagnosed with COVID-19, Arizona's first confirmed case of COVID-19. It was posted to Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter. It has now been scrubbed from those sites except for Twitter as of March 27th, 2020.
