My Life with Covid 19
In 2020, The week of my 22th birthday I tested positive for covid-19. I had no signs that I had even feel sick or had covid. I tested three times before that due to my family friend having covid but I was not really in direct contact but wanted to test anyway. Negative all three time that day. I don't know why they tested me three times but whatever. When I was at home resting and trying to "do my time" I felt totally normal. It was like any other day to me. However, when I got my shots I when I had all the side effects and was out for a good two days at school. I felt like I was gonna die. I had to wait the two days out and nothing felt good to me,I could not get comfortable, and I was sore all over. It even felt like that when I got my booster. Overall, covid sucks! -

Testing Positive
I remember the day I tested positive quite well. Two days before that, though, I drove to the local community college to get a test, because we got the news that my sister was exposed. I had experienced no symptoms, so the test was little more than a formality to me. But, on that night, my mom came into my room, telling me that I had tested positive. I was in the car with them getting my test and no one else that I had been in contact with tested positive or had any symptoms. Though it was likely a false positive, my plans for that weekend were canceled along with any that I had for the next two weeks. I was confined to my room wearing a medical N95 mask for 15 days. -

Symptoms of COVID-19
Having been in a year of the corona virus pandemic actually was very helpful in learning about health and disease although it is a terrible disease. We have seen many symptoms with COVID such as loss of smell and taste as well as other flu symptoms. Fever or chills and coughing or shortness of breath are the most annoying symptoms I have seen. One of my friends had the corona virus and had no symptoms in other words asymptomatic. Fatigue and muscle or body aches are another flu like symptom that is very common. So over all I have learned that through COVID we should learn to stay healthy and clean and wash our hands. -

Someone testing Positive
One of my friends tested positive for Covid. One day, I was playing video games with my group of friends. The particular friend who had Covid I had not talked to for a while. I playfully yelled his name and asked where he had been. He merely stated that he was asymptomatic and he got Covid a couple months ago. I was quite shocked. I had not heard a word of this before hand so I was not expecting this. He just blew it off and we started playing games. No more talk of the virus happened and no questions were really asked. -

Covid-19 Symptoms
So far, I have only know two people that have had Covid-19. One of them was my uncle who lives in New Jersey, and the other was a friend of mine who is my age. My family from NJ came to visit us two weeks ago(which included my uncle), and my uncle told us that a few months he had covid-19. He said that he had no symptoms at all, the only way he even knew he had it was because he had to get tested to go back to work. The test came back positive, but he still had not even one symptom. I also have a friend who had covid-19 over winter break. He said that he had no symptoms except for he lost his taste and smell for three days. Those are the only people that I've know who have had covid-19. -

My Experience with someone who got COVID-19
About a couple months ago, my friend who I had known for about 6 years tested positive for Covid-19. There was an outbreak in his school, and he got the virus from someone there. I'm pretty sure most of his family got tested, but only he had it. I wasn't seeing him anyway because of the lockdown, but I felt pretty scared for him. He had a heart condition and so did his dad, so he was more vulnerable than most. Luckily, he was asymptomatic and he wasn't suffering. His dad got pretty sick, but it wasn't COVID-19, he is ok now but he wasn't doing very well when he had it. Luckily, my friend was ok and did not have to go to the hospital. -

COVID Symptoms
The symptoms of COVID ranged from nonexistent to deadly. Most people who contracted it got flu - like symptoms which were fairly easy to deal with. Another large percentage of those who were infected didn't have symptoms at all. Those that remained were hospitalized and put on ventilators. Quite a number of these people died. 400,000 in America alone. I got COVID over Christmas break in 2020. The worst part of it, was being stuck at home the entire time. I was one of the lucky asymptomatic people along with my two younger brothers. My mom and dad got fatigue and my mom was pretty crabby on Christmas day. I was also lucky enough to get out of my period of isolation just in time for my return to in-person school. My poor five year-old brother had to wait nearly four weeks from his positive test to return to school, because of his unreasonable principle who clearly did not understand the CDC's guidelines for when a person tested positive. Overall, my experience with COVID was an easy one, made more enjoyable by the new games that had been received for Christmas. -

The Bats are to Blame
The bats were being experimented on in China and got infected. One naughty bat escaped and started infecting the public. People who were asymptomatic traveled across the world. That is how Americans got Covid. The bat might still be alive today if his virus did not affect himself. -

五輪コロナ対策会議 無症状陽性に複数回検査検討へ(2020年10月27日) - Olympic Corona Countermeasures Conference: Asymptomatic positive multiple test studies (October 27, 2020)
On 27th, at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics' New Coronavirus Countermeasures Conference, it was concluded that if athletes who test positive are asymptomatic, they have considered to do multiple tests. If a player who participates in the tournament is found to be positive, it is assumed that the player cannot participate. For this reason, it is considered to perform multiple tests on athletes who are asymptomatic but positive. In addition, if the participants were found to be in close contact with the infected participants, they have considered to allow participation if they prove that they are negative until right before the match, based on whether it is a team competition or an individual competition, or a competition that involves a lot of contact such as martial arts. The Organizing Committee wants to set up an "Infectious Disease Control Center" to check the health status of athletes. -

Why didn’t I get infected?
Hello, I am a 33 yo female living in Belgium. A month ago, after a trip to Venice, my husband got infected with Sars-cov2(we are not sure if he took it there). He had all the symptomps of the infection and he tested positive for it. I was in direct contact with him 24/7 and I never tested positive nor developped any symptom. Moreover, once he had started to feel better, we both did the antibodies blood test. He had the antibodies(7,9 >1.4) and I had nothing(0.009<1.4). I cannot find an explanation for it, nobody talks about it. I found lots of info about asymptomatic people but nothing about people who seem to be immune to it even though never had it. Any help? Thanks, Clara -

Still Confused About Masks?
The main point of this news article is getting across the point that it is very important to wear face masks while in the public. It has many pieces of evidence to support the wearing of masks. It also covers a few great points which is does it matter what mask each individual wears, and also does wearing the mask protect you from covid-19, or the people around you from it? This is the reason why I chose this article. I have been questioning both of these points since covid-19 and mask wearing started. This article reveals just how important it is to wear a mask when you are in the public and around other individuals that are not considered within your “personal bubble”. Many people are struggling with life in the pandemic right now, but also they are not doing their part in slowing the spread by properly masking up in public. The news article is very important because most of the population doesn’t know everything about covid-19 since it is new to all of us. The article provides crucial information on how to stop the spread, and hopefully eliminate the covid-19 virus. In this article, there is no bias standing out to me. This article is a fact based article that provides scientifically proven information about the virus. All of the claims of this article has stated have been run by tests. For example, a test was run about how many respiratory droplets left one’s mouth when saying a simple phrase. Without a mask, there was a range from 20-500 micrometers generated. With a face mask, nearly all of the droplets were trapped by the face mask. The responsibility of the media during the covid-19 pandemic is to keep the population up to date and educated about the virus. The more educated the population is, the slower the virus will spread, because a fraction of the population that is informed will follow protocols and safety tips from the media. From this article, I learned that wearing a face mask is much more powerful than I thought it was. After learning this from the article, I will make sure to wear a face mask when I am around my friends or in the public 100% of the time. -

What Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis could mean for his campaign
The main point of this article is to deliver what Trump’s diagnosis could mean for his political campaign in the near future- things like rallies are canceled and moved online, along with any events involving the first family altogether. I chose this article because it was at the beginning of the list when I looked up articles about Coronavirus, but it genuinely is a good article and very well-written. It’s important to life now because for the entire quarantine, Trump has been downplaying the effects of COVID- not wearing a mask, having rallies with no-social distancing, not taking the health risks seriously. Him catching coronavirus is quite possibly one of the most monumental moments this year simply just because it’s so ironic- after not believing in the virus he suddenly contracts it, although asymptomatic. There's bias because ABC is a left leaning news source, but the information seems pretty straight forward with very little attempts at slander. -

My Quarantine Story
My experience is a firsthand story about my 14-day quarantine after I was diagnosed with Covid-19. I do not want to talk about the physical aspect of quarantine because I was asymptomatic. I want to touch on the mental wear and tear one can go through while isolating alone. No human interaction, for me, can take a toll on me because I am a very social person and can fall into a rut if I do not have social interaction. The first thing that is lost during isolation is routine. Life comes to a standstill and because there is little obligations, your mind allows you to get out of habit. The second thing that goes is a purpose and a motivation to do tasks that are typically part of your daily life. Although life is going on in the outside world, that perspective was not there for me. The last thing that goes away is your energy, not just physical energy but mental energy. My mental energy started to lack because I have a hard time being confined and I like to recharge by doing activities outside. Isolation was not just a physical challenge but a mental challenge. -

A World With COVID
This global pandemic is something that no one at my age expected. At my age, all people can think about is starting a career soon or finding that special someone soon. A pandemic as severe as this seemed impossible. At the beginning of this pandemic, my family and I were under extreme caution, never going out unless it was work related and never seeing other people. Eventually, this lifestyle became too much for my parents to handle and they started seeing friends in small groups. I would advise against this as much as possible but they would never listen or care. Eventually, they wanted to plan a trip to Mexico to visit family. Again, I advised against it but they attacked me in numbers, saying that it was family and we needed to make time to see them. After much begging, my family convinced me to go to Mexico with them. I would later find out that this was a terrible mistake. We spent a week in Mexico and then my family started to become extremely sick, all besides me. I started to believe that they were COVID-like symptoms but my family disagreed and ignored me. They started to become so sick that they decided to come back from Mexico earlier than expected and went to the doctors here. The doctor recommended a COVID-19 test and thats when we found out that our entire family tested positive for COIVD-19. The first two weeks after testing positive were extremely tough for the entire family. My older brother and parents nearly never slept, had trouble breathing, and couldn't even hold food in their stomach to eat. Luckily, I was asymptomatic throughout this entire process but taking care of my family was draining and harder than I could ever imagine. I would have to wake up in the middle of the night to help out because my parents to were too weak to get up and do anything themselves. At one point of time, my mother was so weak that I actually had the thoughts that she might not be able to pull through this and she still refused to be sent to the hospital, for reasons I couldn't even understand. It has now almost been an entire month after testing positive for the first time and all of my family has regained their health and are up and walking around the house. We have gone back to test about three times as a family and each time, it comes back positive. Although we're not able to return back to society as normal people, we are all healthy and happy again and I am just praying for the day that we test negative and can go back to our normal pandemic lives. -

Even Asymptomatic People Carry the Coronavirus in High Amounts
This article discusses the findings of a report recently published in the Journal of American Medical Association explaining that asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19 carry as much virus in their nose and mouth as those with symptoms for about the same length of time. While previously the knowledge on asymptomatic spread was more anecdotal this study offers more direct evidence. -

military deals with coronavirus for recruits
This is a news article discussing how the military is testing new recruits for coronavirus. While only 2% test positive 60% of those are asymptomatic ringing how the fact that a vast majority of people would have further spread it without this preliminary test. The article also mentions higher than average retention rates which is probably due to the fact that with the economy suffering from the pandemic more people are opting to re-enlist and have the safety net of a secure paycheck and healthcare at this time. -

What about Mom?
By mid march, our mom was confined to her room. She, and all the residents of Mountainview Residence in Georgetown, had not been allowed visitors from the outside for 2 weeks. They still were enjoying their dinners in the dining room, and the interaction with other residents. But a report came back from the hospital from a resident who had fallen and been admitted. That person tested positive for Covid 19. Suddenly, it was prudent to isolate residents to their rooms. My brother and I asked - "what do we do about mom?" We wondered if we should be taking her out of there? Who would take her? Who could isolate in their home with her? But what if she is already positive? We decided neither of us could do it. So a schedule of phone calls was decided upon, and daily visits to her ground floor window would have to suffice. That first week showed much lethargy and weakness. Was she depressed? Was she missing the social interaction already? Our mom was very very tired, and had a little head cold, but she assured us she was fine. The regional health department was in close contact to the administrator, and monitoring every resident, dictating who to swab for tests. My mom was never selected, as she never presented with a temperature. By Easter weekend - April 10, 11 and 12th, the health department finally came to test every resident and every staff member. Results showed 63 positive cases among the residents, and several more for staff members. And yes - our mom was one of the positives, but apparently asymptomatic. In hindsight, she DID have symptoms, just not the ones they were looking for. After that first week of extreme tiredness, she seemed to perk up and be just as happy and strong as before being isolated. Although Mountainview Residence made the news with 63 positive cases, and 8 deaths at the time of airing (9 now to date) - that leaves 55 seniors with strong consitutions who recovered from whatever symptoms they had presented. I think that's amazing. As of today, 27 April, it has been 2 weeks since any new cases have appeared. Healthy residents are now able to come outside for distanced walks with workers or family members. After 4 weeks being isolated in their rooms, these seniors are proving to be resilient and able to persevere. We grieve with those families who have lost a parent in these last 5 weeks, but celebrate with those who are seeing their parent recovering. -
