My favorite food! The Texas and Arizona connection
Traveling during the COVID-19 has become increasingly difficult due to restrictions, precautionary safety measures, and social isolation. I am a Texas native who is currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona. Sadly, It has been well over 2 years since I have been back home to visit, but my Aunt -who has been vaccinated- periodically decides to make a trip to Phoenix. Every time she visits she is kind enough to bring along frozen portions from my favorite restaurant- Chicos Tacos. Sharing a meal with my Aunt and relatives is a special memory I will treasure despite this incredibly difficult time. -

Covid affects peoples lives
When there were more covid cases reported across the world my mom started taking all the precautions necessary to stay healthy. We do not have many family relatives so when we found out that my Aunt got Covid19 and she was in the hospital we were worried. I had only seen my aunt when I was little, but my mom had known my aunt her whole life. My Aunt is still in the hospital right now but we are hoping and praying she will become healthy and safe again. -

Symptoms of COVID
Many people who have had COVID have suffered from terrible symptoms ranging from fevers to dry coughs to headaches. When I had COVID, I had very mild symptoms, and I feel very lucky for that. The most I suffered from was a light headache and minor loss of smell, and that lasted only a few days in itself. My aunt on the other hand suffered from horrible symptoms. She had a fever 24 hours a day and couldn't even get out of bed; that's how sick she was. She got the worst end of the bargain. My dad, like me, had mild symptoms. Like me, his sense of smell was gone for only a little bit, but he had a horrible dry cough and a scratchy throat. Now, this may be because they are way older than me, but I still feel extremely lucky that my health didn't diminish. A lot of people have had horrible experiences with COVID, resulting in awful, long sickness, or even death, and I think that my experience with COVID was so much better. My heart goes out to those who are still suffering from this plague, and I recognize how fortunate I was to have had such little symptoms. -

Less family
Usually for thanksgiving my aunt, uncle, cousins, and grandma come to our house. My grandma has lived by my house since I was born until about 4 years ago, when she moved back to Israel. She is an essential part of our thanksgiving, she helps out with the cooking a lot and is an important family member. This year, she was not able to come because COVID could not let her get a flight to our city. It was very sad because we would miss her and we had to do a lot more cooking, which was stressful. However, I know it is for good because we are keeping eachother safe. -

My Thanksgiving Corona virus Story
This year's Thanksgiving was different than most years. My family and I usually spend Thanksgiving in Lake Arrowhead and luckily we were still able to go its year. We also still got to spend thanksgiving with my cousins, aunt, uncle and nana like we usually which was fun. One of the things we love to in Lake Arrowhead is shop in the village but this year some of the stores in the village were going out of business because of the coronavirus. In the other shops that were still open we had to wear masks and there were lines outside of some of them. Another thing that was different was that a lot of our favorite restaurants were closed for seating and instead we had to pick up the food. Our family still had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and we ate turkey and all the normal foods we would usually eat. However, when we went to the local grocery store they were sold out of all of food and the grocery was packed even more than it usually is because people were getting worried about not having another food while were in lockdown. -

Driving during COVID
The first time I went driving after March 13th was to drop off groceries to my aunt. The freeway was empty with very few cars on the road. It was very peaceful being alone on the road. I heard the music from my car but not alot of other car engines.
