"Viktor Orbán is Using the Coronavirus Emergency to Crush Minorities" - Jacobin
In an article for Jacobin Magazine, Imre Szijarto and Rosa Schwartzburg describe in length how the far-right government of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has taken advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to pass a law to give itself emergency powers over civil society and the other branches of government. These emergency powers, which include the ability to censor journalists, attacks on LGBTQ rights, the power to grant government contracts (to Orban's cronies), and the takeover of art institutions, represents a blatant power grab that is unprecedented in Europe since the 1930s. Indeed, Orban's emergency power decree has drawn comparisons to figures as varied as Adolf Hitler and Emperor Palpatine (in Hungarian language memes), and the European Union leadership has strongly condemned Orban's decree as akin the "Enabling Act," which was passed by the Nazis in 1933. Orban's autocratic power grab and the democratic backsliding experienced by Hungary were already underway before the pandemic, but COVID-19 has allowed Orban to use a "state of exception" to effectively suspend liberally democracy in Hungary for the foreseeable future. -

China's anti-epidemic hero — Wenliang Li
Wenliang Li was a doctor ophthalmologist who warned about the outbreak of COVID-19. Born in Beizhen, China, on Oct 12, 1986, he died after becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, China, on Feb 7, 2020, aged 33 years. On Dec 30, 2019, Li Wenliang sent a message to a group of fellow doctors warning them about a possible outbreak of an illness that resembled severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, where he worked. In fact, Li was one of the first people to recognize the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Wuhan. Li returned to work after signing the statement and was infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ( SARS-CoV-2), obviously from the patient. His death caused an uproar in China. The Chinese people expressed their gratitude for Li Guangyao's full-time service on the message board and criticized the preliminary reaction of Wuhan public security and medical staff to the warning. In the days before his death, Lee said in an interview with The New York Times: "If officials disclosed information about the epidemic earlier, I think the situation would be much better." He said: "Should There is more openness and transparency." I think Dr. Li made a major help that cannot be ignored for this outbreak, but it was not recognized in the early stages. Instead, government officials thought he was confusing people and wanted to make things bigger. His sacrifice made me feel very sad and sorry. -

COVID-19: After Funeral Parlor is Opening for People to Bury their Dead
Many funeral parlors open from Mar 26, to April 4 to allow people in Wuhan to collect their relatives' cremains. Most people need to wait 5 to 6 hours. The security system is very strict and taking a photo at that place is prohibited. At the mean time, many articles were published into social media, but all were deleted very soon. The actual number of dead people is unknown, and is not allowed to be known to the public. The official number of the dead people in China is 2535. However, many doctors in wuhan believed the number of dead is more than 200,000.
