Pets can catch Covid from owners, study suggests
Swabs were taken from 310 pets in 196 households where a human infection had been detected. Six cats and seven dogs returned a positive PCR result, while 54 animals tested positive for virus antibodies. "If you have Covid, you should avoid contact with your cat or dog, just as you would do with other people," Dr Els Broens, from Utrecht University, said. The researchers say the most likely route of virus transmission is from human to animal, rather than the other way round. "We can't say there is a 0% risk of owners catching Covid from their pets," Veterinary Microbiological Diagnostic Centre Dr Broens said. "At the moment, the pandemic is still being driven by human-to-human infections, so we just wouldn't detect it." -

virus
I think The cause of the virus is definitely because of people interacting with animals, because a virus needs a creature with a cell to live with, an animal is the best choice, because most of them live with humans. The cause is probably someone kissing an animal or eating animals. The virus is able to get through the blood and make the first person sick, when the virus is in the human body, it changes, and becomes easier to spread, then there’s more and more people getting infected. -

origin of the virus
The story that got around about Covid-19 is that it came from bats. Bats would carry the virus around naturally but one day, someone in China decided that it would be a good idea to eat one of these bats. I think that a handful of people ate these bats that carried the virus and it was very contagious. Once a couple people had it everyone got it and people were dying left and right. Everyone tried to get out of China and they gave the virus to the whole world. -

The Quiet Thanksgiving
Never would I have thought that my Thanksgiving would be like this. My Thanksgiving usually is with my whole family. But this year it wasn’t. My grandparents are scared of covid and did not come over. My other family, like my uncle, were scared to put my grandparents in danger. It was weird not looking forward to seeing my grandparents. My parents and sister decided to just eat at home together. Usually when we go to the market. It is crowded but now, no one was there due to covid. It felt like a ghost town. We enjoyed our meal and it felt like a regular Thanksgiving meal but I still had that lonely feel of my other family. It wasn’t an awful Thanksgiving, it just wasn’t the same. -

You Still Need to Wear a Mask Even if You're Vaccinated
Just because someone gets vaccinated does not automatically mean that they are completely immune to COVID-19. The article states, “A lot of people are thinking that once they get vaccinated, they’re not going to have to wear masks anymore,” said Michal Tal, an immunologist at Stanford University. “It’s really going to be critical for them to know if they have to keep wearing masks, because they could still be contagious.” People can be vaccinated and still contract and spread the virus. -

COVID-19 Not Allowed
Signs, like this one at a west Wichita Target, act as a first line of defense against the coronavirus by instructing potentially-ill shoppers to turn back should they happen to have any of the listed symptoms. While a cough or a fever does not necessarily mean that a person has COVID-19, the highly contagious disease's stealthy transmission, combined with modern medicine's nascent understanding of the illness, has made such precautions a necessity as communities try to mitigate the virus's effects. -

Kindness is Contagious Too
Kids around the country are using chalk to spread positive messages on the sidewalk. This image taken in the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood of Boston is just one example.
