Cookies Over Covid
When we were all in quarantine, I decided that I would perfect one of my favorite desserts, chocolate chip cookies. These cookies had some trial and error to be able to get to the right consistency and I worked on them all of the months we were inside. -

F$%K COVID cookie
I bought two of these cookies to take to my friend's house when I went to visit her under the 'single bubble' program during Melbourne's lockdown 6. They're from a store called Mad About Cake in Caulfield South. -

Christmas in Cochrane, 2020
This file contains both a photo and a text story to accompany it, it's mainly just my thoughts surrounding the holidays in the pandemic, firstly with what I did, what my previous Christmases were like, and my family's reasoning with staying home and abiding with quarantine restrictions in opposition to the many other examples of people breaking these restrictions for the sake of family. I think it's important mainly, because the pandmic has redefined, or put a new emphasis on familial love - do we love our family by choosing to stay home during a deadly pandemic? Or do we love them by breaking restrictions to visit them during said pandemic. Submitted for HST 580's first assignment at Arizona State University, Pandemic Prompt: Holiday's. -

My 2020 Christmas
This Christmas in the year 2020 was not much different as I expected than other years. The only really change was that my grandparents couldn't come. For as long as I remember I have spent every christmas with my grandparents. Also, because of the pandemic, all restaurant seating is closed. My family and I usually go out to dinner every christmas eve. But this year, we had it at home, which was not really odd since we only started going out for dinner christmas eve a few years ago. Other than those changes, we still did everything the same, we decorated, made cookies, got christmas pajamas, and more. However, it did not feel like christmas. Even though everything we did was the same pretty much, it did not feel like christmas. Listening to christmas music did not even make me feel like it was christmas. To sum up, my 2020 christmas was still pretty much the same. -

Cookies Wearing Masks
Local San Ramon baker, KrisPetites, features cookies that reflect the reality of masks in our COVID-19 world. The cookies are round sugar cookies with yellow royal icing emoji faces wearing masks. The cookies expression is sweet - as if the cookie is actually smiling - and the masks are vibrant with unique detailing. -

Our Vancouver Covid-19 Staycation
We’re a Vancouverite family of three who cancelled plans to go abroad due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Instead, we spent our spring break two weeks with daily cookies and bicycling around our city, under the lockdown rules of our province. This blog tells the story of what that was like in Vancouver in March 2020. -

Grandma's Cookies (from a safe distance)
My grandmother still makes sure to give us the cookies she makes when we visit, but from a safe distance. We put them in the "no man's land" on a table between us, and take from the table one at a time. Of course it's not the same, but it's the best she can do. -

Quarantaschen
This is a screenshot of a snapchat sent to me by a friend, of hamantaschen she made while in quarantine. Hamantaschen are a traditional cookie to make on the Jewish holiday Purim, which was about a week before the cookies were made. I appreciated her newly created word "quarantaschen." #HIST5241 -
