Fundraising for Ukraine
This is an Instagram post by maniteeshirts. This post is about people fundraising for Ukraine since they have been hit hard by the Russian invasion. Noticeably, all of the people posted in this picture are all wearing masks. This picture helps show that where some places might not require masks, some people are still wearing them. Due to not being given a location, I am not sure on the status on masks where this was posted. Since everyone is wearing them though, I am at least guessing it is a store that requires masks to enter. -

FigureItOut's Livestream Concert
COVID-19 has made it near impossible for concert goers and fans all over the world to enjoy live music. Drive in shows have been happening across the globe but the band I work with felt like they could do more to bring the concert straight to the publics fingertips. Mike Weakly, a U of A graduate and great long time friend of mine, asked me if I would like to join him and his band for a livestream recorded performance for his album he just released titles "Searching For More". The set was made using social distancing safety parameters and all of the crew that was not the performing band wore masks at all times. The set was done locally at the venue known as the rebel lounge in Phoenix, AZ. It felt so good as a musician to get onstage again and perform even if it was just for a live audience. As long as you put passion into any performance, I believe you can portray the message you want to any group of people no matter what the environment is like. A lot of venues have been suffering from the lack of shows and events to host so many have been asking for donations or support from the Save Our Stages movement which is a fund to help venues stay open through such hard times like this. -

A Nationwide Coin Shortage
With businesses having closed down, people avoiding handling hard currency out of fear of contracting COVID-19, and the US Mint experiencing significant difficulties in coin production in the spring of 2020, the US supply of circulating coins took a hit, prompting signs like this one at a west Wichita, Kansas, grocery store to become commonplace. Appearing in both English and Spanish, this image reflects the growing importance of cashless forms of payment and donations as ways of navigating this economic side effect of COVID-19. -

“Foxwoods’ efforts during the COVID-19 crisis are part of a long-standing relationship with United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. Due to current global conditions, the food bank has seen a significant increase in demand, but a decrease in contributions. Historic donation leads to Choctaw-Ireland scholarship
“The $170 donated by Choctaw leaders in 1847 — or “Black ’47,” as the Irish who survived the rampant starvation, disease and exposure remembered it — would today have amounted to over $5,000, historians estimate. At that time, the Choctaw were still grappling with their own grief and loss, caused by the abuses of a colonial government a decade earlier, and they appear to have seen their own suffering reflected in a people over 4,000 miles away. The donation has since inspired three visits between heads of state in both nations, the construction of an iconic stainless steel sculpture in Ireland’s County Cork, a poetry collaboration between Choctaw author LeAnne Howe and Irish poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa, dance performances of welcome, music that aspires to merge Irish “trad” with Indigenous rhythms and a scholarship.” -

Tenohashi giving out free food, clothing, medical attention at Higashi-Ikebukuro Park.
An organization called Tenohashi set up in a small park in Ikebukuro (northwestern central Tokyo) to hand out free food, clothing, masks, medical attention, etc. People were very organized, waiting in line at tape markers placed on the ground roughly two meters apart. I donated some extra facemasks I didn't need (including the two "Abe no masks" provided to me as part of a relief package from the government). I think they've been set up there every Saturday, at least, if not more regularly than that. -

Take what you need
This shelf was placed at the local community house where people could take what they needed or indeed leave what they did not need. As there was no toilet paper on the shelves of the supermarket just a few 100 metres away, I thought the toilet rolls would be snapped up pretty quickly, but to my surprise they stayed for some days. -
