Rules to follow
When covid first started I don't think anyone knew what to do. Everyone was like wear a mask do this do that. I mean it really didn't seem necessary even now it still doesn't. I got called creepy for not wearing a mask. I think that yes we should take precautions but we also shouldn't have to be locked up. I mean eventually everyone is going to get covid. I mean there is really no escaping that. I mean we have to wear a mask, social distance, we can't eat inside any more. And I think it is the most idiotic thing ever in the history of things. I mean I get it if you are scared of covid I will respect you and keep my mask on but I mean come on really we can't take our masks off... At ALL! near ANYONE! In the entire time our nation has been around we have never EVER had to shut everything down. I understand masks and taking precautions and if your sick stay home but really lock down. I am just so fed up with this stupid covid lockdown. -

Masking Up: Grad School in Quarantine
As a first generation college student I had no idea what to expect when it came to grad school. My parents had never done anything close to it and could offer me no advice, I was essentially flying blind when it came to applying and finally attending grad school. My program did it’s best to make me feel at home but I was still nervous, what if I didn’t belong here? What if my imposter syndrome was right? These anxieties bothered me for the month leading up to school starting in the fall of 2020. However, the university I am attending, St. Mary’s, provided us with these high quality masks in order to protect us and others during the pandemic. It made me feel more welcome, like I belonged. This is the best mask I have and the only one that I use regularly. It’s emblazoned with the name of the school and is a beautiful blue color. Despite all my fear and anxiety it’s nice to know that the school cares enough to give us these masks. Whenever I go out I wear this mask and advertise for my university, the place that allows me to study the things I love with people who love them too. -

Old Paranoia
The modern day photo, the one quivocating social distancing to Communism, I first stumbled upon on social media. The photo instantly made me think how paranoia has always played a part in the American attitude towards the government; Americans have always been quick to assume that the government isn't being straightforward with them and that there's a conspiracy afoot. That conclusion leads me to the second photo, taken in August of 1959 in Little Rock, Arkanasas, was the response to school integration that allowed African-Americans to go to formerly White-Only schools. As you can see, it's a mirror image of Americans forming conspiracy theories or general paranoia that is usually scapegoated onto Communism. -
