The Coronavirus Effect
This TikTok video features Jon Stich creating coronavirus inspired artwork for Politico. This art piece features a figure on a hoverboard carrying a pack of toilet paper. The toilet paper is streaming out of the package and in the background are two other figures that appear to be homeless. Near the figures in the background are a tent, a shopping cart, and various bags. This scene takes place in front of buildings with iconic San Francisco architecture. The art speaks to the increased inequities of coronavirus on vulnerable populations. There are portions of the population hoarding toilet paper, while there are others without access to these basic necessities. How will COVID-19 impact San Francisco's homeless population? -

Stay Home: Home is Where the Pups are Anyways Comic
A single panel comic (along with a second identical panel with spanish text which can be found in the accompanying link) promoting staying home early in the outbreak using the internet obsession with pets as motivation. Those with pets have found they have a lot more time to spend with their cats and dogs while working from home or otherwise restricted to their houses. In the case of this specific comic, it is part of an ongoing series about the artist, Gemma, her husband Peli, and their three dogs, Mochi, and the "twinchis" Huey and Duey. The comics focus mainly around Gemma's relationship with Mochi. As such, the comic also shows how the pandemic has made its way into everyday life and ongoing business and artistic pursuits, creating a wealth of new experiences around which artists may base their work. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9rVO77lV7M/?igshid=xk89mgy0mkr2*Gemma Gené, @157ofgemma on instagram*screenshot/ instagram post/ comic -

Chalk Heart Drawing
I found this chalk heart on the sidewalk outside of Heritage Elementary School in Traveler's Rest, SC. It made me smile and gave me hope to see it and it just felt important to pass along. So much of what ends up documented here is how life has changed. This reminded me that the important things haven't: joy and love and play are all still happening. -

The Global Impact of COVID-19
This is a visual representation of how the CoronaVirus has impacted the world. I drew CoronaVirus on the top to represent the meaning of the picture. To the left we have the Corona cell itself, with a facial mask on. The cell is an actual representation of what the cell looks like, and the mask is to represent how the virus is visually represented in the world (people using facial masks to protect themselves). Around the cell I incorporated a circle poem in which defines the virus, i.e symptoms, effects, and how it is perceived by the world. I then have an arrow pointing to the word which symbolizes this is what the virus leads to in humanity and the globe. To the right we see the world with many different all the people all over the world joined together. This is to represent that even during this difficult and pressing time, humanity works together to heal one another. Humanity will come out strong, and keep the world (our home) healthy. There is another circle poem around the globe in which represents how humanity is impacted by the virus. In the bottom left hand corner I added a little image representing the "Stay at Home" order, in which is a historical event that has occurred due to the CoronaVirus. -

The Covid Diaries Entry #16
My experiences of this pandemic.Entry 16. i had a transformative experience with the catfish given to me on Easter Sunday. (inspired by Aristotle’s animal biology.) April 19, 2020.Catfish are known as survival fish due to their reslience in adverse conditions and long length of life. They have no scales making them extremely sensitive to external elements. Their whiskers or ‘barbels’ (latin for little beard) serve as sensory feelers for protection and food detection. Since Corona inception to current -

Maya's wall of art.
Luckily my 5 yo continues to lead a fairly normal life. Her screen time is usually limited to when her brother naps, (about 2 hrs. a day), and she is happy to spend the rest of the day playing, painting, and singing. Occasionally, she does talk about missing school, her friends, and her nana in Michigan, but we can usually patch over the pain with a video call. -
