COVID-19 Names
The COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of rules that we have to follow. One of them is to wear masks all the time. Some people whine about wearing them and how they don't work, but those people just look for excuses to complain. Masks help me stay safe and make me feel more comfortable around others. At my school, we also have to take temperature checks every day. My mother checks mine at home, and we have to go in again for school. It normally isn't a big hassle, but it gets annoying when you are just waiting for the people to get the instruments needed to check us. And the lady that helps with the temperature checks is pretty mean. Overall, its not that big of a deal though. We also have to stay six feet apart, but the benches at lunch are not that big, so we end up sitting pretty close. I should probably try to maintain my distance from people more. The rules that we have to follow for COVID-19 aren't that difficult, and you get used to them pretty quickly. -

“People have described it as these times are unprecedented."
“People have described it as these times are unprecedented. Nobody has had to endure or deal with or live through something like this of this magnitude in the past. I know that there's always been previous flus or outbreaks or epidemics here and there you know the black plague obviously was a big one the Spanish Flu the flu of 1918 was pretty bad and you know a lot of those were pretty treacherous for how many lives that they took and how much it affected communities that way so thankfully we haven't had to deal with that a whole lot with this one as of right now.” -

An advisory from the Bishop of Lansing releasing Catholics from mass obligations
An advisory from the Bishop of Lansing releasing Catholics from mass obligations and reminding the congregation about how some parishes responded to the Spanish Flu seriously and that had a positive effect. "All Catholics within the Diocese of Lansing are dispensed from the grave obligation of attending Holy Mass on a Sunday. This applies to everybody and is particularly aimed at those groups most at risk from infection, including the elderly and those with compromised immune systems." #HIST5214
