Southern NM County Mandates COVID-19 Vaccine for First Responders Including Sheriff's Deputies
This article discusses a recent mandate from the Dona Ana County government, which is seated in Las Cruces, New Mexico, that orders all its first responders to submit to vaccination. To my knowledge, this is the first such mandate in the United States, and it illuminates the relative lack of control first responders have over their lives once they enter their respective profession. The order is likely to be contested, particularly when such requirements have not historically been a condition on employment, The order reads in part, "Being vaccinated is a requirement and a condition of on-going employment with the County due to the significant health and safety risks posed by contracting or spreading COVID-19." The order applies to all paid personnel in the county's law enforcement, fire, detention, and medical professions. -

Thank You
I first saw this picture on Instagram. I remember that day, many OC residents drove by the medical Center with posters, and many medical workers waved to the outside. Then I looked it up in the LA Times. Their smiles are so contagious for me that I have to share them. -

Community Says Thank You to Local Healthcare Workers, First Responders, and Essential Workers Through Signs
The local community of Blanchard, Oklahoma offers their gratitude to the local healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers through thank you signs. These signs were spotted in front of dozens of locations including businesses, churches, homes, and even government offices. The collage only represents a selection of three that were of a different design. Personal story submitted for the #ruralvoices collection. Contributed by Clinton P. Roberts, curatorial intern for Arizona State University, HST 580. -

Food for First Responders- McDonalds
I had go to McDonalds to pick up breakfast when I noticed they had this sign in the drive thru. My Aunt is a nurse working in the Covid-19 unit at a local hospital. I took the picture of the sign to send to her. She was excited to see that they had such an offer. She was also suprised because she did not know that was something McDonalds was doing. She shared the information with her coworkers, whom most did also not know about that. I think it is important to share these kinds of offers for first responder. It's great that McDonalds is giving out free complete meals to the first responders, but it should be something that is more well known about. I am not sure if this is a local offer or a national one, but regardless The people who the offer is being made for should be made aware. I hope to see as time progresses more bigger chains that can afford programs like that to join and help us support all of the hard working first responders. -
