2021-03-02Artist Kristina Libby and the Arizona nonprofit Marked by COVID teamed up to create a COVID-19 memorial. The memorial features a digital art piece showing flower petals falling from a rose. Each petal represents one person, and every two seconds represents one day. Libby also started the Floral Heart Project, another flower art project honoring COVID-19 victims.
2021-01-24This image is of three masks that I own: a blue mask with white polka dots, an olive-green mask, a white mask with a pink floral print. These masks were purchased off of Amazon back in March of 2020 and were hand-made by a lady who randomly selected five masks for you. These are the ones that have survived; the other two have broken either because of washing or breaking from continued wear. These three have not been worn in awhile because one did break from me wearing it and I do not want to chance it breaking while I am out and about.
2020-12-14John Mello runs a small local flower shop that has been providing flowers to the local community for years. When the pandemic hit, quarantine was a major adjustment for John’s business. Customers who regularly came in for celebratory gifts, flowers prom, and wedding flowers, no longer came in at their usual rate. As a result, John’s business slowed. This flower represents the fragile life of a local business, and how without the consistent type of attention it needs, like water and sunlight, it will die just as quickly as a flower.
