“I just feel rage”: 6 stories from around the world of surviving Covid-19
From the article: "To help combat the numbing, here are a few people’s stories of surviving Covid-19, in their own words. These patients live in Nigeria, Spain, Iran, England, Italy, and New Jersey, and they each had different experiences with their medical systems. Some health institutions have clearly responded better than others." Because COVID-19 is a global pandemic, it is important to include resources in this archive that compare and contrast different experiences with COVID-19 across the globe. This article is also important because it argues for a shift in how we describe the trauma of COVID. Author Lois Parshley argues that we are currently facing a crisis with "psychic numbing", a process in which our brains struggle to comprehend the sheer amount of sickness, death, and trauma. Parshley argues that while people struggle to understand the tangible impact of a statistic like "125,000 deaths", they are more likely to be receptive and compassionate when presented with individual stories. In other words, whether it be callous politicians or skeptical family and friends, people are more likely to take COVID seriously when they are presented with individual accounts of suffering rather than statistics. -

Covid-19 and its economic damage
The object that I've uploaded says that the pandemic will have a long-term effect on the entire world economy. The global GDP will go down, businesses will close, and millions of people will be left without a job. So unless there is a vaccine found faster, each month people are not working and society is going back to normal, the recovery time will only grow. I'm pretty sure this is obvious stuff to know but I guess that's what I'm most worried about the pandemic. -

It'll all come out in the wash.
I've been paying close attention to different aspects of this outbreak. It is clear now that many world governments were aware of COVID in early-mid January at the latest, and opted to allow most of the world to become infected while keeping the whole thing a secret from us. Now, they are acting dumb, inept. Telling us masks don't work? Bullshit. Not locking down in January-February? Bullshit. This was willful allowance of global infection by many nations, while keeping it a secret from most of us for almost two months. There's no way they didn't know what was going on in January - every single allied nation missed this? Every military missed this? Not a chance. They planned in mid-late January through February to allow the spread of this virus. What's happened through all of March was planned, governments knew about this and allowed it. We just got fucked over bigtime. Excuse the French.
