Toilet Paper Shortage During Pandemic
While many of us living through the pandemic understand the meaning behind this photo, future generations may not. This photograph was taken by a Walmart employee when his store had received a shipment of toilet paper. During this time of the pandemic, toilet paper was a hot commodity and would not stay stocked on the shelves because so many people were buying it. Although this is not an item that we may think of as essential during a pandemic, toilet paper was difficult to come by and the employees had put this out on the floor as soon as it had come off of the truck. Before they could put the item on the shelves, people had already grabbed it from the pallet. -

Food prices skyrocket over coronavirus problems
Starting in March when the pandemic started food prices began to go up. From issues with transportation to outbreaks of Covid-19 among slaughterhouse employees food costs are showing no sign of going down. Everyone will feel the pinch in time whether your a customer or a restaurant owner. According to the article, produce is the latest food item to see price increases. With so many people already stretching every penny, the rise in food costs will just add to the stress of many. Some prices will come down as demand returns to normal, but some items may not go down in price due to issues with supply chain or other factors. People Swarm Toliet Paper at Local Sam's Club
I walked to the back of the store where they keep the toilet paper and saw that the worker was bringing out toilet paper on a pallet. I looked around to see that people were literally swarming this man. As soon as he let down the pallet and walked away they crowded the pallet and starting grabbing. It was such a crazy sight to see. I had to take a picture. This just shows that we value toilet paper. -

Trader Joe's, Long Beach, CA
I took this photo to document the run on groceries that took place in California about a week before we received the official announcement to shelter-in-place. Many of the shelves at the local Trader Joe's in Long Beach were barren. Shoppers had cleaned the store out of pasta, rice, beans, soup, peanut butter, frozen vegetables, some vegetables (sweet potatoes) and other goods. It was the first tangible sign to me personally that a panic had set in our area.
