California prison begins testing all employees
Testing or lack there of has been a big part of the news cycle since covid reached the U.S. In the beginning a person could only gain access to a test if they met certain criteria. This severely limited the number of people tested and was done because the number of tests available was very low. Even people deemed essential workers, such as those working in the nations prison system, had trouble accessing tests. -

Ponca Tribal Chairman Addresses the Challenges of Offering Services to a Geographically Unique Community
“As our people become more and more inundated with news and updates on the Covid19 virus, I’m sure many of you are concerned of the unknown and what’s next. As far as it relates to our tribal nation, Tribal Council and staff have been addressing this situation for some time… Added to our concerns in this time of uncertainty is the fact that our tribal service delivery areas are spread out over 15 counties in 3 states. We have several unique areas spread across these areas. All need the unique attention they deserve. Our staff is working with all 3 state health organizations and all counties that our service delivery areas are in…While we are doing everything we can to help at this time, your understanding is asked for in knowing that we just may not be able to prevent occurrences from happening. Again, we will remain committed to protecting our people the absolute best that we can.” -

‘New normal’ aims to keep economy running: Minister
Due to the pandemic, economies around the world has been facing great difficulties. The 'New Normal' is the Indonesian government's plan in trying to keep the Indonesian economy running while still combating the pandemic by keeping the government's health precautionary measures. However, personally I disagree with the term 'New Normal' because we don't want social/physical distancing to be normal. Instead, I believe the term should be phrased as something that means transitioning back to the normal before the pandemic. -

My Iso door sign
Having been sent a text message from the Department of Health I was ordered to self isolate as I was considered a close contact of someone I was seated near on a plane. It was a scary time. We hadn’t had any lockdown measures. It was a few days after we had been told to not shake hands etc. I had sinusitis at the time. The Dept if Health Tasmania called me every day to monitor I hadn’t left the house and also ask me about my health. As I had symptoms of sinusitis that correspond with COVID-19, I had two swab tests on these 14 days of isolation. Both returned negative. -

Mr Darcy's COVID greetings
This meme resonated with me because I'd noticed several other aspects of society that reverted to Austen-esque practices during COVID-19. Emails became more like letters; personal and sometimes lengthy. People really began to enjoy walks in pairs again. It forced us all to slow down and consider one another more.
Description With stones, sticks, irons and torches, residents of the Subtanjalla district, in Ica, prevented the installation of a shelter for patients with coronavirus within the Coprodeli - San Antonio educational institution, where a clinic was set up which was destroyed by the protesters . The residents of Subtanjalla learned through local media and social networks that the regional government of Ica was carrying out the coordination for the installation of the shelter for patients with COVID-19 in the aforementioned school. However, they would not have agreed with the provision. Around 10 o'clock at night, the lack of control took hold of the residents, who burned tires and mattresses not only in the income of the Subtanjalla jurisdiction; but also in different parts of the district. They confronted the agents of the National Police and the Peruvian Air Force (FAP), who had to fire dissuasive shots into the air to disperse the protesters. “We are not going to allow coronavirus patients to be brought into our district. Do they want us to get it too? Here there are also children and the elderly who are a vulnerable population, ”said a protester. -

About Sar Cov-2
Before the pandemic had morphed into its current situation, Sarah Munro, a student at Columbia's School of Public Health, created an overview that was shared with friends and family members. It was meant to provide a resource to answer basic questions such as: how long will this last, should I wear a mask, etc. Although she is not a doctor, she is studying epidemiology and other related fields concerning diseases. Her belief was that some information is better than no information. Sarah Munro is the original author, Joey Dorion is publishing per her request Early March, exact date unknown -

Diane's Coronavirus Diary
I began this journal March 9, 2020, two days before New Mexico's first confirmed COVID-19 cases. March 9 was my husband and my 19th wedding anniversary and the day we last shopped for groceries. This originated as a Pages document on my iPad. I am writing to document this experience, not knowing how things will turn out for us and our family. I am writing as a way to explore my own responses to the pandemic. I have shared responses from my daughter to my journal in a couple of places in the journal. 3/09/2020 through 5/10/2020 and ongoing. My husband and I are retired and recently moved to a new neighborhood. We have absolutely LOVED our time here. We are located just a block from the University of New Mexico and just four short blocks from the Nob Hill district. We are within walking distance of many restaurants and are just minutes from several bus lines. We would often hop on the bus to downtown or uptown. We haven't ridden the busses since early March, we haven't been to a restaurant either. Our granddaughter is living with us full time, now, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her mother, my daughter, is a respiratory therapist at a hospital. [curator's note]: from the "Tell us More" page on Omeka net. -

My mom took this photo on their flight from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Kotoka International Airport in Ghana, Africa. Health, Healing, and the Coronavirus
The “Found Conscious” Facebook page shared a video in which Thomas Cowan, MD describes the coronavirus pandemic in terms of his healing philosophy, claiming its related to 5G technology and metals. Within a week, Facebook reported more than 300,000 shares of this particular video. In the wake of ongoing concerns about “fake news,” social media platforms, including Facebook, have taken moves to censor expression. In this case, Facebook describes the presentation with a notice that it contains “False Information,” as checked by independent fact checkers. (See, for instance, the report of the independent experts: https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/viral-claim-falsely-asserts-that-covid-19-is-due-to-5g-technology-rollout-not-a-virus/?fbclid=IwAR0qoEAF9-cy2H2Y42gw6sQfiTCw_-CfPKWjpO2kzMUif5Z4vN05kD6qWCI.) Broadly, the video reveals how the Internet has become a platform for sharing alternative narratives of COVID-19 and the pandemic, revealing a public trying to understand what it means to live during a pandemic. -

Cancelled Tutoring Conference :(
I was excited to attend and present at this tutoring conference with my colleagues. Unfortunately, on the morning of Monday March 9th, we woke up to this email regarding its cancellation. The decision to cancel was a little before cases started rising nationwide in the US, so this move was more of a 'precaution' rather than a necessity at that moment. As I am posting this five days later, I realize that if we would've gone, there would've been all sorts of panic and anxiety among us and other attendees. Disappointing we couldn't go, but ultimately, I'm glad to be safe... -
