Rediscovering a Family Passion
In the pandemic, Kimry reached back to her roots and decided to create a garden. When asked by friends on Facebook what did she put into the ground to make it so fertile? She replied "I put love into my ground, I put hope into my ground, I put patience into my ground and I put heart and soul into my ground. In life you can try and put this into people and yield no love back, no real friendship, and no real kindness. But, I tell you, Mother Earth will show you, that you deserve all that you put into her and more. God's time can be so quiet, calming, and so peaceful." -

COVID-19 symptoms and family
There are many symptoms to COVID-19. Some are worse than others and can also last longer or be more life threatening depending on the person and if they have any underlying conditions. Some of the symptoms can be loss of taste and loss of smell, a fever, headache. Covid 19 mostly affects your lungs, so if you have a hard time breathing that can be another symptom as well. I have had an experience with one of my close family members contracting covid. Covid in a way saved their life but at the same time almost ended it. Let me share my story. So my [FAMILY MEMBER] was happy and wasn’t aware of having any underlying conditions. He felt perfectly fine, he was in his 30’s i think and he said that but would felt tired and not motivated but he took that as a stage of getting older. When he got Covid he had a panic attack, he couldn't breathe and had to go to the hospital immediately. He was rushed to the ER and was put on a ventilator and other things as well. When doctors ran tests on him they found out he had covid, but the reason he had a hard time breathing was because supposedly his heart was only pumping with 10% of energy, somehow his heart wasn’t pumping fast enough so that is the reason he was feeling more tired and not motivated. The doctor told him that if he hadn’t got covid, because of his heart he could’ve died any second. That is why in a way Covid saved his life. But now he is happy and healthy and his heart is now working. That is how Covid has affected my family. -

Stormy Hearts
During this pandemic, everyone is clearly going through a difficult time. However, I think that mental health fluctuations have been especially common during this time. Sometimes we’re feeling productive and like we can accomplish anything, other days just getting out of bed takes everything in us. Different people are going to be on different levels of vibration, including friends. One friend may be feeling themselves while the other may struggle to even look at themselves in the mirror. The representation of this drawing is that even though one person may feel happy and one person may feel deep sadness, they can still be there for each other and walk through the storm together to help each other grow. Even though it doesn’t show it, this also applies to the Black Lives Matter Protests and overall racial problems. It is an issue we can help each other out with by taking the time to emphasize with people who don’t experience the same things as us. -

Chalk Heart Drawing
I found this chalk heart on the sidewalk outside of Heritage Elementary School in Traveler's Rest, SC. It made me smile and gave me hope to see it and it just felt important to pass along. So much of what ends up documented here is how life has changed. This reminded me that the important things haven't: joy and love and play are all still happening. -

San Francisco Le Meridien Hotel Heart, Battery Street and Clay Street, North facing facade of hotel from my apartment.
The hotel workers, who are out of a job right now, had the thought to express love to people in the area and it really struck me that is exactly what we all needed at that moment: love. It made me sad for everyone, but gave me hope as well. I posted on Facebook and said: This hotel near where I live has been mostly dark the last few weeks, but tonight they made a nice heart. Love to all of you and all of your families and hope all are healthy and safe! -

Hearts and teddy bears in the windows
This house displays two local responses to Covid-19. In the upper right window is a display of construction-paper hearts with a thank-you note to all people exposed to the virus as part their daily jobs, including health care workers, delivery drivers, grocery store clerks, and others whose work is deemed essential. In the bottom right window is a teddy bear. This is part of a "find-the-teddy-bear" game which has arisen as desperate parents try to find ways to amuse their children while schools and workplaces are closed and in-person socializing is discouraged. The game, designed for young children, is to walk the neighborhood and try to find teddy bears (or sometimes other stuffed animals) sitting in the neighbors' windows. -
