My Brother Playing Beat Saber on the Oculus VR Headset
Since COVID-19 is forcing people to stay indoors and isolate from others, I have had the opportunity to spend more time with my family. Every night, we try to eat dinner together and do something as a group, whether we watch a movie or play a game. The other evening my brother, Joshua, elected that we play a game on his Oculus VR headset. We played a game called Beat Saber. In the game different colored blocks come flying towards you and you have to hit them, following the beat of the song playing in the background. This proved to be a fun way for us to get together and hang out. I will say that if you ever elect to play this game be prepared for sore arms the next day. It is definitely a workout. Even though COVID-19 has disrupted everyone’s plans, don’t let it stop you from hanging out with loved ones (at home). I was really frustrated when I had to leave college and come back home, but I’ve actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Even though I miss being in class and seeing my friends, it is nice to finally have some time that I can spend with my family. -

Notes from an Essential Worker
#FordhamUniversity #VART3030 The COVID-19 virus disrupts life, particularly our relationships with those we love. But, relationships are flexible and adapt to circumstance. My mom is the Executive Director of a non-profit organization in Nutley, New Jersey. Her organization provides affordable food and psychological services to the greater community, making her an essential worker. Her role requires her to sacrifice a lot of her time at home. So, she can no longer see my brothers and I in the morning to keep us on track. Instead, she leaves notes for us, using notebooks and paper towels. This note is a "to-do" list for the day with some encouragement written in parentheses. -

Art made during the pandemic
My fourteen year old son, Benjamin, created this painting on March 26, 2020. He'd been home for one week at that point. He stayed up late at night long after we'd gone to bed to make some art. I found this in the morning. He gave his permission to me to add this to this site. -

Welcome Home
The first person in our neighborhood to be diagnosed with Covid-19 spent more than a week in an ICU in Fairfax, mostly on the brink of death. Walking my dog today I saw this sign in his yard. It's nice to have some good news right about now. -

Providing food to the quarantined.
My husband is "presumed positive" for the coronavirus and is quarantined on our porch. (Presumed positive is the physician's term after a telemedicine appointment. There are no tests available, unless one is medical personnel or in dire health.) This image shows how we place food outside his door and then he picks it up. -

Talking to a friend
Photograph taken as I talked to my friend through her window. I was on a walk and saw the open window as I passed her apartment. I called up to her and we spoke for a little while. She has been self quarantining because a family member (who she saw last week) has Coronavirus. So far, she has not shown any symptoms. -

The Social Distanced Family
My Husband and dog Ginger are spending time together on our office couch. We have not left our house other than going to the store twice, in the last 13 days. My husband was playing a video game as I continue to do college homework via the internet. Our dog Ginger has been very happy we both have been home. We have been zooming and using Discord to talk to our friends, who we miss dearly. We didn't visit our uncle or my father on their birthdays. We decided to take Governer Dewine's plea for social distancing very seriously. The weather in Ohio is still cold, we look forward to when we can enjoy some sunshine. -
