Rediscovering a Family Passion
In the pandemic, Kimry reached back to her roots and decided to create a garden. When asked by friends on Facebook what did she put into the ground to make it so fertile? She replied "I put love into my ground, I put hope into my ground, I put patience into my ground and I put heart and soul into my ground. In life you can try and put this into people and yield no love back, no real friendship, and no real kindness. But, I tell you, Mother Earth will show you, that you deserve all that you put into her and more. God's time can be so quiet, calming, and so peaceful." -

Pandemic
As of today, we as a society have been struck by two major pandemics, COVID-19 and Racism. Although both of these pandemics aren't an easy fix it is important to acknowledge and remember those that have lost there lives to these two catastrophes. On each of the two sheets, I wrote down the names of 100 people that have lost to either the virus or police brutality in the United States on the backside of each sheet I wrote 'Black Lives Matter' and 'Covid-19' to signify the cause of death for the said group of names. I decided to sew the two sheets together to show how in both instances racial discrimination and bias can be accounted for as reasons for the death of these individuals. For this project, I wanted to make a piece to remember the people behind the statistics, to humanize them in an otherwise forgetful world, and to say their names. -

The Numbers (As of January 25th, 2021)
COVID-19 has been continually grasping the world and those infected with it, and every single country you can think of has at least 25 cases. Even small islands! In total, there has been about 100 Million cases throughout the whole world, and 2 Million of those cases resulted in DEATH. In the United States of America, there have been 25 MILLION cases, exactly 1/4 of the total, even though the virus originated in China. China is now only at 88 thousand cases, and about 4.5 thousand of the cases resulted in death. The world has been hit hard, and many have fallen, but Humanity still is winning the fight, and the virus is beginning to weaken. -

Going Through the Motions
It was a Saturday night on December 12th 2020. Since about 10 months ago I, and most of the world have been experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic one way or another. I was reminiscing on what I have done in the last 10 months and sure, I have done lots of stuff. But none of it had any real value. I was just going through the motions. I can say that I think most of humanity is doing the same things I have been doing in the last 10 months. It is sad the times we are living but I still think humanity as a whole shouldn't just get lazy or bored. We should think about ways to invest in our time so we don't waste it. When we look back at this pandemic we should think "Wow! I was so productive in that time!" not "I did stuff I guess. I just wanted it to end." So I think humanity as a whole should look at ourselves and think, is this really what I want my grandchildren to remember? Us being lazy? The bottom line is that we should try to be productive and not just, going through the motions. -

Tweets from Inside a Prison 09/20-09/26/2020 by Railroad Underground
These images show the Tweets of an incarcerated person utilizing a contraband cell phone to let the outside world know about prison conditions during the pandemic. This week he talks about mind, body, soul, freedom, effort to locate contraband cell phones, lack of compassion, support, Breonna Taylor, the rule against shaking a free persons hand, using the word inmate removes humanity, prisons acting as a herd immunity experiment, journalists profiting from the pain of incarceration, and rock bottom. -

Melbourne is not a city in revolt
This was towards the end of the Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne. Sky news, in particular, were making out that all of Melbourne was opposed to this infringement on our human rights. This article reminded me that, actually, most of Melbourne was feeling the same way as me - it sucks, but it's the right thing to do. -

Tweets from Inside a Prison 5/3-5/9/2020 by Railroaded Underground
These images are of the Twitter feed of an incarcerated person using a contraband cellphone to tell the world what is happening inside the prison during the covid pandemic. This week they discuss guards still not wearing masks but inmates are required to, retweeted about #dreamers and #carenotcages, the public beginning to recognize the humanity inside of prisons, empowerment, #clemancynow, the state of California disallowing inmate grievances to be filed, stagnation of the movement to release inmates early to slow the spread, and the fight for their rights. -

"December 31, 2020 at 11:60"
This meme is important as it shows what everyone's worse fear is at this moment, that 2020 with all of its problems will never end. Somewhat as if humanity was stuck in a loop. -

Like a Gladiator
My poetic prose captures the human spirit. Human conditioning is fickle but one thing that no one can take away from us is the indomitable courage we are able to show in the face of adversity. This is important to be because I am very appealed to the resilience, valiance and kindness that people around the world. -

Like a gladiator
This is a poetic prose I wrote about staying valiant and resilient during isolation. Humanity is fickle but one thing no one can take away from us is the indomitable spirit that we possess, especially in the face of adversity. -

The Global Impact of COVID-19
This is a visual representation of how the CoronaVirus has impacted the world. I drew CoronaVirus on the top to represent the meaning of the picture. To the left we have the Corona cell itself, with a facial mask on. The cell is an actual representation of what the cell looks like, and the mask is to represent how the virus is visually represented in the world (people using facial masks to protect themselves). Around the cell I incorporated a circle poem in which defines the virus, i.e symptoms, effects, and how it is perceived by the world. I then have an arrow pointing to the word which symbolizes this is what the virus leads to in humanity and the globe. To the right we see the world with many different all the people all over the world joined together. This is to represent that even during this difficult and pressing time, humanity works together to heal one another. Humanity will come out strong, and keep the world (our home) healthy. There is another circle poem around the globe in which represents how humanity is impacted by the virus. In the bottom left hand corner I added a little image representing the "Stay at Home" order, in which is a historical event that has occurred due to the CoronaVirus.
