School Picture Day--At Home
During the quarantine period, schools were closed and parents were thrown into new roles as teachers. Most parents didn’t even understand 4th grade math or how to deal with all of the curriculum thrown at them literally overnight. This meme deals with one aspect of school life—the school picture day which is a special day where photographers come in and everyone in the whole school has individual portraits done along with the group class photos. The humor here is that quarantine and home schooling was hard on everyone and so many of us were stressed and pushed to the max—including the kids. So by dressing up in his finest and announcing it was time to take the school photo, either the kid was very sweet and trying to recreate his past life, or he was cracking under the pressure—like his parents were on the brink of doing. -

Coronavirus is the Apocalypse Now--Sign.
When the Coronavirus struck and most all of the stores closed, the streets were deserted. It truly did look like the apocalypse had come. The humor here is that the bookstore jokingly said that it was putting all the Sci Fi post-apocalyptic books into the current events section. -

I can't believe it's riot season already
This meme is a comparison of U.S. Fall holiday jokes. Normally, we joke that in the fall the stores start changing out their holiday items the day after a holiday. For example; the day after thanksgiving stores will be stocked and ready for Christmas. This meme is joking that we have not even recovered from Covid-19 and another disaster has already begun. -

Passport
Covid-19 has caused trips, weddings, reunions, and cruises to be canceled. Instead, what we all have to look forward to is wandering out homes if you are lucky enough to have a home. This meme jokes about the daily boredom we are all feeling. It is a nod to the trips and events missed because of the circumstance. It also brings to light that we do not all have the same experience during shelter-in-place. For those of us living in a large home we at least have the option of exploring different views. For those who are less fortunate shelter-in-place is an entirely different experience. -

Damage Report
This meme pretty much describes every morning for the past three months. Every single day the news reports some wild new thing. First Kobe dies in a fiery crash, then a plague shuts the world down, toilet paper shortage throughout America, people loose their jobs, I (a teacher) am sent home until further notice, some cop decides to murder a man in daylight while being filmed, causing mass protests, rioting and looting in my city, I was just notified that the budget cuts for education in California may cost me my job. Oh, and somewhere in there was the announcement that murder hornets were in the states now and some huge asteroid is going to barely miss us. I have started sleeping in as long as I can. Mostly so I don't have to face the next thing coming my way. I was crying to my mom recently and she told me to get it together, "Honey, none of this is about you. You know that right? This is happening to us all." I keep asking myself if this is even real? -

A tiger is on the loose in Oakland, California!
Amidst protests and COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders, Bay Area news sources reported that a tiger was on the loose in Oakland, California around 8:40 p.m. the night of May 31, 2020. The internet went wild as locals were on high alert for a tiger roaming the streets. By 8:52 p.m., the Oakland Zoo announced via Twitter that all of their tigers were accounted for. The Twitter-sphere went wild with humorous responses. My personal favorite response came from the Twitter account @Attorney@Law when they replied, "That's exactly what a tiger would say. Please confirm you are not a tiger." -

Italian Wife Plays Recorder. Husband Is not Pleased.
During the Corona outbreak, people in Italy sang in unison from their balconies. However, in this home, the husband was fed up with the noise and the awful recorder playing. So he lashed out. She yelled back at him. This shows how tensions in a marriage were greatly heightened by being forced to spend 24 hours a day with each other, seven days a week. -

I am a Hero Now When I Cancel My Dental Appointment
People generally don't enjoy going to the dentist, and from the dentist's point of view, canceled appointments is a big problem. They might charge you for the time, but it's almost always a problem affecting their income and schedule for the day. However, during the Time of Corona, you are acting like a brave and courageous hero by staying home and not going to the dentist. -

Reality of Coronavirus
Coronavirus has affected everyone in some type of way. This meme accurately represents how many people feel about this year so far, and how it has been a not so great start to a new decade. Covid-19 has taken away many opportunities and places limitations on what we can and cannot do. Personally, coronavirus has prevented me from traveling this year, as I have canceled multiple trips to abide by CDC guidelines and safety precautions. While I was looking forward to traveling this year, I know it’s important to stay inside to keep myself and others safe during this time. -

Coronavirus narration in history
This pandemic has been hard for me. Being outdoors means the world to me, I like to treat everyday as an adventure, so naturally stay indoor was hard for me. At the time, the thing I turned toward to seek happiness is memes. Meme were a fun way to trivialize the harsh reality we are living in. It was an escape from reality. -

The Necessities
I live on Long Island, in New York. I was stopped at a traffic light and happened to see this sign for “The Barn”. The Barn is a drive through grocery store and there are several of them on Long Island. Usually the sign advertises ice cream, milk, eggs. This day, the important items are “masks, Duraflame, White Castle”. I thought that this was an odd combination of necessities, and if I had seen this sign at any other time I would be confused. But it sadly made perfect sense to me. Masks because we can’t go anywhere without them. Duraflame because people are at home and enjoying fires. And White Castle because fast food restaurants are closed or deemed unsafe. This sign made me sad - because of what it said, and because I understood it. "My Plans vs. 2020" Meme
A meme I created and posted on a Facebook group, on the topic of the year 2020. Comprised of two images taken from the opening sequence of "Shaun the Sheep", demonstrating how my plans for the year have been ruined by 2020. It summarises my feelings that all the events of the year has ruined all the plans I had, and that it has not been a great year. -

Day 65 of self-quarantine
This picture can be considered a meme, which shows how the things that after being in self-quarantine for a month from a my job, I really took for granted how great it was to help someone out, even if it is helping them out with their drinks. All the things I would complain about, I wish I hadn't as this quarantine had made me miss my job. It relates to the pandemic as it has shifted our world tremendously. These reoccurrences were what was considered normal to me. I only want to be able to help someone out again, being at home hs been a struggle #CSUS #HIST15H -

I secretly love Covid-19
Top 20 Good Things about Covid-19: 1. Peace and quiet 2. Much less traffic 3. Pollution is way down 4. Gas companies are upset 5. Spoiled children are depressed 6. Republican suicide-by-liberation is a thing 7. The vast majority of jobs are inessential 8. No professional sports, AKA stupid distractions 9. Familial bond forging 10. My alcoholic neighbors don't warm up their two cars - a giant, rumbling Ford F150 and a two door Mini Cooper with a modified (AKA much louder) muffler - right outside my bedroom window for 20 minutes at 6:30AM every weekday morning 11. Mother Nature won't go down without a fight 12. Rich people forced to pay poor people 13. The airline industry, a wasteful and destructive industry that pollutes like crazy, is suffering 14. Cruise ships, modern monstrosities of disgusting opulence that helped the virus spread, are also hurting 15. Real leaders have distinguished themselves 16. The quality of art is directly proportional to the suffering of the artist 17. No mass shootings 18. Sales of bidets way up 19. "light and heat" might kill the virus. Or maybe injections of bleach? Trump wants to look into those ideas, as they come from a mind whose uncle taught at MIT. So, y'know, he just innately understands complex doctor knowledge. Comforting! 20. No need to make up excuses for not visiting grandparents -

The Office Coronavirus Meme
This meme resonated with me because it's very true, and it speaks volumes. The reaction of the time traveler would be exactly like the meme because 2020 seems like a terrible year. There are a lot of bad things about it outside of coronavirus, but the coronavirus is the main problem of 2020. I thought it was weird when I realized we were living in history right now, we are on lockdown and I had never imagined anything like this before. This year will be remembered forever, because I guarantee the world won't be the same for a while after this, possibly never the same again. #CSUS #HIST15H
