COVID Share Your Story #RITtigers #5, Engineering Major's Point of view
I've been forced into reduced hours for my co-op My father and uncle have lost their jobs. The loss of income and support comes at a critical time as I'm worried how my family will weather this storm. I am moving back into my parents house to help so we can pool our resources. Nevertheless I remain positive and thankful for my blessings. I have more time now, and I am healthy. My family is lucky as we've not been directly touched by the virus. While I know this storm is far from over there is a clearing on the other side, we only have to look for it. If I could give a message to myself at the start of this semester, what would I say? Hold onto the memory of grandma and the serenity prayer. Their going to help you through the coming months. (Also the winning lotto numbers are....;)) -

While many small businesses shed jobs in the face of lockdowns, special needs communities saw an urgent need for more help to keep their residents safe from contracting the virus. One recruiting inducement was the promise of a hiring bonus, such as the one depicted in this photograph. Northeastern JOTPY -

Post COVID Artistic Renaissance
The Arts have suffered heavily during the quarantine. Artists and those who depend on the arts for revenue have been flatlined by the loss of jobs. This is a hopeful reminder of how much our society depends on the arts and its future. -

Safe drinking water must be part of coronavirus response package
Access to water must be included as part of the next major federal legislative package. We cannot expect to halt the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic without water for handwashing and basic sanitation. I am even more interested in how this is going to be administered to the Navajo Reservation that continues to struggle with COVID deaths as a result of limited access to water. In some place, zero access to clean and safe water for hygiene and sanitation. -

LGBTQ people face higher unemployment amid coronavirus pandemic, survey finds
Surveys conducted by the Human Rights Campaign and PSB research demonstrate the vulnerability faced by the LGBTQ community during this crisis. LGBTQ people of color are disproportionately impacted by unemployment amid COVID-19. It's hard to process that these issues are present during an international crisis. At many times, it feels like the LGBTQ community is fighting a two front war. #ASU #HST580 -

Timing is everything in life!
As an empty nester couple at retirement age, with certain underlying health issues, our main concern is not our jobs,or cash flow, but rather the future of our children and grandchildren. While they are close, we are separated and isolated from them and this is very hard to accept, especially with no specific end in sight. -
