Staying Active
San Diego has always been known for its beautiful beaches, especially during the spring and summer seasons. Normally beaches would be crowded with people laying about and basking in the sun. But this photo shows the opposite. During the lockdowns in Spring 2020, outdoor activity was encouraged for anyone who wanted to stay active. The beach was no exception. However, we could not just go to the beach to relax; we had to stay walking and moving around. There was more enforcement at the beach to make sure everyone was moving and had their masks on. Due to the lack of travel, the beach crowd was smaller than normal. Parts of the beach were even blocked off to discourage people from going too far and breaking rules. Distancing rules were enforced pretty much everywhere. -

Virtual School
Virtual school was very different than normal school. In the second semester of the 2020 school year, we had to start doing school online. For the rest of that year school was very easy. I woke up five minutes before class and then logged onto zoom, each class was only 30 minutes long. Tests and homework were also easier. Then, after summer, I started going to a new school. It was hard getting used to the new school online. One other thing I didn't like about online school was having to stare at a computer all day. Something I did like about online school was being able to sleep and take long breaks between classes. Overall, I thought online school was much easier but normal school is a lot more fun. -

Virtual Learning during Covid-19
At the start of Covid-19, we had to do virtual learning for the rest of the last semester until now. Online learning was better in my opinion. I liked it better because we got to sleep in, and also we didn't need to get changed into uniforms. But I also liked it because we had more free time right after school ended right at 2:45, but now I only have free time at 3:30 because that is when we get home. I liked it because everything was online and we didn't have to write on a piece of paper and get our hand tired. But I also like seeing my friends in-person school. I like online leaning better than in-person school. -

My Covid Christmas
Don't get me started on Christmas. It was good but... stressful. It's a tradition for my family to go to Mammoth Mountain to ski and snowboard for the week of Christmas. It's always so so so much fun with all the snow but this year there was barely any snow! We thought cause of covid not so many people would be there and with there being little snow but THERE WAS A GOOD PLENTY OF PEOPLE! Since everything was closed we rented a condo from a family friend of ours and we arrive to the place and we find an orange envelope taped on the door! So we get inside, unload everything, and we open the envelope thinking it was from her to us. We find papers of a fines for the owner because they previous people who rented it were too loud and I guess it wasn't the first time it happened. People reported her condo and they ended up getting fined 1,000 dollars! It also said on another sheet of paper that she now can't have anyone renting out the condo because of traveling purposes. So, we had to stay undiscovered. We couldn't be seen by anyone that lived there because we might've gotten kicked out! So, for the rest of the week we had to stay silent. I felt like Anne Frank for Petes sake because we had to whisper. Finally when it came Christmas Day, we opened presents and everyday we went on the slopes so it was worth it in the end. -

Senior Year in NYC: The Monumental Moments - Strolling through Central Park
The costumes weren’t the only thing that made this Halloween spooky, the fact that trick or treating was a no-go and bars required you to sit, eat and wear a mask. **Fordham University, SOCI2200 -

Demand for Boating
The pandemic has lasted a lot longer than initially expected and has consumed the entire summer while putting restrictions on many summertime activities. One of the few summertime activities to be preserved despite the pandemic is boating. Many people wanted to get their hands on a boat as it was one of the few things you could do. I have been working at my dad’s boatyard for countless summers, and this past year, 2020, was one of the busiest I’ve seen. To start, we were set back by a few weeks as in late March and early April, businesses that weren’t deemed essential were closed. When we did open up, there was a high demand. Every customer wants their boat serviced first; this year there was an extra-long waiting list. Not every customer of ours uses their boat every year, but this year most did. Due to the social distancing restrictions, many saw this year as the perfect time to get their own boat. The place I work does not sell boats, we only service, fix, and store for the winter, but when driving by and there are countless boats parked in the yard, occasionally people will stop to inquire about purchasing a boat. Unfortunately, we have to direct them elsewhere. This year, I felt these visits were more frequent, reflecting the nationwide demand. Lastly, there were a few parts and products we used that were hard to get hold of this year. Our dealers had less stock, and often parts took longer to arrive. COVID-19 has affected a multitude of industries, some for the better. -

Finally Getting to that 1,000-piece Jigsaw Puzzle of the Battle of Trafalgar
Now that we are well into our second month of social distancing and isolation at home, we need to look for new ways to amuse ourselves during down-times. I'm getting tired of television programming and streamed videos. In our household, we've found that working on a jigsaw puzzle is a good way to relax for a few minutes between work, chores and other activities. I got this puzzle for Christmas a year or two ago, and it was forgotten in a closet until I discovered it and put it to use the other day. -

Yard Work
With all of the spare time that we now have due to the quarantine, many are picking up new hobbies or dispersing their energy into something productive, like cleaning. In the photo you can see my roommate, Alex, doing yard work that he never had the time to do until now. -
