"Grocery chain apologizes after releasing 'super spread' ad for Thanksgiving"
For generations that had never experienced a pandemic, the Coronavirus was not the only novel thing to adjust to. New nomenclature became the norm, including "Super spreader". The term was used to describe large groups gathering, especially during the holidays. Any other year, "plan a super spread" would be understood as a spread of food items. But for a population that was being restricted from large gatherings, in 2022, from holidays to Weddings to funerals, the company's attempt at clever advertising came off as tone-deaf and offensive. After backlash, Giant Food Stores formally apologized. -

Wear a Damn Mask
#WEARADAMNMASK So excited to finally share the finished image for #GigiJournalPartII @vmagazine , which is officially on select newssstands! (Link in bio to order online) I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this very special publication, guest edited and creative directed by @gigihadid 💙 A month and a half ago while working on this, I never thought that at the time of the journal’s publication, cases in the US would be surging in 41 states and that hospitals would be swelling. For those who continue to resist precautionary measures and try to argue that the threat of this virus is false, I have family working in an ER full of COVID patients in Tennessee right now, and can promise you this is very real. So please, wear a fucking mask and wash your hands! It’s the absolute least we can do. Thank you to all the essential workers, who now 4 months in, are continuing to risk their lives by going to work every day. This work is in honour if you 💙 -

Foreign Affairs Subscription: "The World After the Pandemic"
I've had a Foreign Affairs magazine subscription since my freshman year of college, when I took an international relations class. I've enjoyed reading Foreign Affairs ever since. This is the latest edition of the magazine that arrived in the mail yesterday. Some of the latest discussions regarding the pandemic that I've seen taking place in the context of foreign policy, is how COVID-19 will forever change the world, like 9/11. I found the cover art to be very poignant and powerful. It's a ticking bomb with the rendering of what COVID-19 looks like on a microscopic level as the fuse. I don't think I've fully comprehended the ways in which COVID-19 will forever change the world, and I'm not sure it's possible at this moment in time. The cover of this Foreign Affairs magazine is really powerful in its representation of the crisis. -

Face Masks as Fashion: Freedom on Hold
The cover for Vogue Portugal's April 2020 issue. Apparently, freedom is not on hold for Vogue magazine, as they are free enough to produce an entire issue and somehow shoot two people kissing through masks for their cover while trying to prevent a pandemic. *Fordham University *SOCI2800 -
