The impact of Covid
Let me share with you the story of my COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. The outbreak in the United States came after our school's spring break. At that time, we were instructed to attend classes online, and we were unprepared to the rest of the semester. And it has also been accompanied by the cancellation of many campus activities. The quality of the course is compromised. Both professors and students are severely tested because the new teaching modality has never been used. The professors ponder how to teach and design exams online, and the student tries to adjust to the new studying environment. What'sWhat's more, as students, we lost all kinds of group discussion activities, presentation and face-to-face experience in class. Online courses are always less convenient than face-to-face ones. But as students, we have to overcome it. Another thing that is affected by the epidemic is the mindset. I can imagine the COVID-19 will break out in the United States because it's a very contagious virus. It isn't the flu, but it is a virus. In the early stage of the outbreak, many people had very wrong misconceptions about the coronavirus. This misconception is more deadly than the COVID itself. When I walk down the street, most people don't wear masks because they think they don't need to wear masks. One passer-by even told me that masks were useless for the virus. I am so shocked by their mindset. It is the first time I can actually feel that the COVID is less lethal because people who don't believe masks can save a life are really trying to challenge COVID with their lives. -

Other figures provided show just how quickly the virus spread through an enclosed population that is unable to social distance. San Quentin Still at 100% Capacity
Covid-19 has been eye opening and really illustrated many of the problems we as a society have done a good job ignoring. One of the things society has long ignored is overcrowding in prisons and jails in the US. We've also learned that any enclosed population without the ability to social distance is a risk for having a major Covid-19 outbreak. Together, overcrowding and the inability to social distance, has made for a bleak outlook in the nation's correctional facilities. This Tweet shows that even this far in to the pandemic and the outbreak at San Quentin the prison is still over capacity. -

Alabama students throwing 'COVID parties' to see who gets infected: Officials
As covid cases explode across the U.S., especially in the southern and western portions of the country, young people in Tuscaloosa, Alabama are doing something unthinkable. They are hosting covid parties. While authorities thought this was a rumor upon first being notified, further investigation showed it was really happening. Unlike previous generations who held "chicken pox parties" in an effort to expose their children to the disease while they were young and less likely to suffer complications (prior to a vaccine being available) the covid parties do not appear to have any purpose other than entertainment. People are hosting parties and inviting people known to have the disease. Everyone then puts money in a pot and the first person to come down with covid gets the pot. -

Life carries on
2020 has been a constant spiral downward since the beginning of the year and now has reached a new low with the outbreak of the corona virus. A time for celebration ruined as we were nearing the end of the school year and the class of 2020 missing out on there most important event of the school; graduation as it signifys there moving on up in life. The photograph represents the tracking of cases which is just getting higher and higher as it continues to spread causing the closure of public spaces. So far this year has been tragic and we have all lost things and the road to recovery is still a ways ahead so we must continue to move forward. -

Prison in the Time of Coronavirus
This video, produced by CBS Sunday Morning, illustrates the unique problems created by coronavirus inside America's jails and prisons. The US currently has 2.3 million people incarcerated. Many of them are in jail awaiting trial and remain there only because they cannot pay their bail. They have not yet been convicted of a crime. As they point out in the video it is easy for the public to ignore the correctional facilities across the country, but the spread of the virus has changed this. An outbreak in prison can lead to an outbreak outside the prison. While prisons have internal medical facilities there are no ICU beds, which are often needed to treat severe cases of coronavirus. Instead severely ill prisoners are taken outside of the prison to the local hospital. In non-severe cases some prisoners are placed in solitary confinement as a way to quarantine them. This video, almost eight minutes long, mentions Rikers Island Jail in New York, San Quinton Prison in San Francisco, Marion Correctional Institute in Ohio, a Tampa man released early who is charged with murdering someone the following day, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas, Orange is the New Black (book and TV show), and the podcast Ear Hustle. Getting on our repatriation flight to London from Marrakech Morocco.
Excited our flight out of Morocco to London was really leaving. We missed video taping the cheers when it landed. The flight was packed and we still did not have an onward flight home, but with London not closing down like Morocco, we knew we would have more options. We did finally make it home to Orlando via JFK and the joy was short lived because the virus crisis in America was clearly not being taken seriously and 9 days after we left Morocco we had Coronavirus. Although we could not get tested for another two weeks because America had no tests. #HST643 Scott________ & wife Tammy ________ -

Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Pope Francis Celebrates Palm Sunday Mass Without the Public
The articles desxcribes how Pope Francis had to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass in solitude. Typically, thousands from around the globe attend the service at St.Peter's Basilica. He had a few aides, nuns, and a choir all adhering to the social distancing protocol of six feet between them. Other priests took to rooftops so followers could participate and view them from the safetly of their homes. In the Pope's native land of Argentina, congregants used house plants instead of the usual palm leaves used to participate. Palm Sunday opens Holy week, leading to Easter. Currently the Vatican has seven reported cases of COVID-19 among residents and employees in the very small independent city state. -

It'll all come out in the wash.
I've been paying close attention to different aspects of this outbreak. It is clear now that many world governments were aware of COVID in early-mid January at the latest, and opted to allow most of the world to become infected while keeping the whole thing a secret from us. Now, they are acting dumb, inept. Telling us masks don't work? Bullshit. Not locking down in January-February? Bullshit. This was willful allowance of global infection by many nations, while keeping it a secret from most of us for almost two months. There's no way they didn't know what was going on in January - every single allied nation missed this? Every military missed this? Not a chance. They planned in mid-late January through February to allow the spread of this virus. What's happened through all of March was planned, governments knew about this and allowed it. We just got fucked over bigtime. Excuse the French. -
