Family triumphs
My parents are very scared of covid, they are in their fifties with a six year old at home. Due to this, I wasn’t allowed to even be home from the time I was a freshman to this day two years later as a junior. I just miss my family. Pictures and FaceTime isn’t enough for me. -

Hearing Floyd Breathlessly Call for his "Mama"
“Even as an adult, I’m 31, when I feel depleted or I have nothing left, even as a mother, I call on my mom,” said Nikkia Hines, of St. Louis Park. Hearing Floyd breathlessly call for his “mama” in the video that has now been seen around the world is what called mothers everywhere to action. “His mother had already passed and that was his last straw,” said Hines. “That part. I can’t…I can’t verbalize how I feel.” - reporting by Courtney Godfrey -

Symptoms of Covid
The first symptoms of covid that I heard about was lost sense of taste and smell. After that I heard one of the symptoms was fatigue and shortness of breath. Then it was fever, cough, headache, vomiting, and sore throat. I also heard about diarrhea, muscle aches, and runny nose. The worst symptoms I heard about was pain in the chest, bluish lip or face, and difficulty breathing. -

Getting a COVID-19 Vaccine
My name is Delanie Cencelewski, I am 20, I live in Kingman, Arizona and I work for a private fiduciary office and deal with a lot of elderly clients. Before getting my vaccine, I really was not nervous at all and did not really feel any particular way about it. When I received the vaccine, I was in Bullhead City, Arizona at a local pharmacy called DeeFLat Pharmacy with one of my coworkers. It was only two people in the pharmacy, one administering the vaccine and one working the counter. The lady asked for my I.D. and insurance card, then I sat in a chair and got the shot. I had to wait in the pharmacy for 15 minutes so they could monitor me and make sure there were no symptoms. I am not sure which vaccine I received. I felt fine getting the vaccine, it did not hurt at all and was pretty quick. Later that day, I developed pain in the area of my right arm where I got the shot and a headache and fatigue, but other than that I was fine. I got the shot on Saturday, 1/16/2021, and am still experiencing fatigue and pain in the arm. I got the vaccine partly due to work because I come into contact with many elderly people in my community and because I have diabetes, so I fall into the 1b category for the vaccinations in Arizona. -

virtual learning experience
My experience with virtual learning wasn't so terrible but still not good, i couldn't leave the house making it so i couldn't talk to my friends, plus, its on computer which is greatly distracting. During quarantine, i was in the house so long that my eyes hurt when stepping outside. But other than that it was ok, its not like we were starved or sensory deprived. -

Virtual Learning with Covid
It started in March 18. The death of me. Online school... staring at a computer for 7 hours a day. My eyes hurting after each day. My mind racing at all times on other things. I sat at my desk in my room. I had barely any social interactions with my friends. All I could do was FaceTime or text them. The one nice thing about online school is waking up at 7:50 everyday. I also liked that during my breaks I could just shoot outside on my court at my house. Other than that, I am glad we are back in person school. -

Behind the Scenes of a COVID-19 Nurse
This photograph went viral on Instagram, with many people I know sharing the post on their stories in order to spread awareness about how hard nurses and other healthcare employees are working. I think this photo is really important because it shows a side of the pandemic that no one is really thinking about. It shows how healthcare workers are unable to see their families because they are tirelessly working with COVID-19 patients and don’t want to infect their families. This shows a marginalized group of people, healthcare workers, who haven’t really had their voices heard or cared about enough through the pandemic. Healthcare workers have not been appreciated enough for all the hard work and sacrifices they have made for their patients during 2020. In addition, this post gives voices to women who have often been silenced, allowing Syndi Lane to share her story with the world, encouraging others to follow. -

Saved By A Crippling Providence
My wife stopped walking on February 18th, 2020. On February 17, 2020, We had dinner at a friend's house in Paramus NJ. All was well. We had a great time of fellowship and drove the 1.3 hrs to drive home. The next morning when my wife got up to go to work, she had difficulty walking. It was MUCH more than difficulty, she could NOT walk at all. She screamed out in pain as she tried her best to 'still go into work'. To no avail, when I heard her cry in pain, I whisked her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. This was the first of two major hospital visits. Her MD MADE her stay home. February 27th....things started shutting down and by March we all know the history of what happened and is still upon us in this NOW PANDEMIC. Whether it was Providence of God or Life, My wife and I were homebound and 'quarantining' before the rules went into effect. It is now October and we are still in the 'woods' with this pandemic but my wife is doing better. This image I took in May of this year 2020. She was just starting to get back to walking. 3 months of pain and misery to be saved from the Plague of this Century. Saved by a Crippling Providence! -

COVID19
I just wanted to leave my reflection on COVID-19. I personally didn’t have any one in my family become ill from this in fact no one has gotten it besides me. I found out I had it in the middle of February. This was before COVID really became a problem or before people were getting it in the US. I was tested for flu, strep throat, and pneumonia and they all came back negative. The only symptoms I had in the beginning were muscle pains and a fever of around 100-101. After a few days I then began to have a sore throat and a day later is when I began coughing and I became hoarse. But I was already feeling so much better at this point. I never had any trouble breathing, runny or stuffy nose, vomiting, or very high fever that a lot of people mentioned they had when they had COVID. I was lucky mine didn’t get bad and I am even mire lucky none of my family contracted it from me, or even any of them at all. -

#26: Silenced
The title of this image specifically refers to the mask-ridden culture we are currently liviing in to contain the virus. It also refers to the 'silencing' of one's human/personal interactions, one's voice; one's community. In this isolation, the individual's pain and suffering become evident - not just for live's lost, people sickened, but loss of the 'normal'. www.niloumakes.com @niloumooch -
