Carpark Run
To return to New Zealand in late 2020 I had to complete 14 days of hotel quarantine. Luckily, my hotel had a fenced off area of the carpark that we were able to use for exercise for an hour each day. This strava activity shows a run I did around the very small carpark (one of six during the two weeks), which involved running in my mask and staying a few meters from the other people in the space. Without these bursts of activity, two weeks in a hotel room would have been much less bearable. -

Graduation
This picture, it is showing me having my high school graduation in a parking lot. All having to stand 6 feet apart, outside and listen to our names being read off through the speaker of our cars. Not your typical graduation from high school and I'll never get to go back and have one because of covid. -

N-95 mask in parking lot #11
The N-95 mask is designed for a very close facial fit and the filtration of airborne particles because its edges are designed to seal around the nose and mouth. They are one of the most effective and sought-after masks by healthcare workers and others. This image shows a dusty and dirty N-95 mask laying in the #11 parking lot on the ASU campus near the Child Development Lab. This image is part of the mask trash series and Arizona State University item set. -

MN State Fair during the Pandemic
The Minnesota State Fair was canceled last summer due to the pandemic. These food stands are a lot of peoples primary source of income but due to the pandemic they were forced to shut down operations. As a result, they started to expand out to random parking lots throughout the twin cities. These stands are important to many people as the state fair is a tradition for so many people here in Minnesota. The fact that these stand owners figured out a way to get us the food we deserve is an example of how us Minnesotans have persevered through the pandemic. -

The One Where We Were Quarantine
This is a chalk drawing that my friends and I made when we learned we would not being going back to school. This was very difficult because of the fact we were seniors had didn't get all the special things our last year . We wanted to make our mark on the school in a way that would show the school how much we loved coming every day. We went to the school and made this in the parking spots we usually parked in every day. This ended up going on the local news and the school website. -

Worship seems so lonely now.
With this isolation it's hard to feel a connection when your fellow worshipers aren't there with you. The friendly faces aren't there anymore and you're stuck feeling lonely. You can watch a video or listen to the broadcast in your car outside the church but it's lost its familiarity. We miss the people around us and are losing that comfort of others in worship and in song. We may even feel disconnected to our spirituality because of it. But it's something we just have to deal with to keep others safe. Even the Psalmist felt lonely. He described himself as a lonely bird sitting atop the roof of house and waiting for the Lord (Psalm 102:7). Perhaps we all just have to wait. -

Empty Lots
Under quarantine I took up biking to keep me active and mentally sane. This allowed me to cruise around the city I live in and sort of go sight seeing in downtown areas and even the area surrounding Disneyland. Occasionally I’d stop by The Outlets at Orange or aka the block and bike around the completely empty parking lots. I wasn’t the only person there as sometimes I’d see people skating, walking, running, or even roller skating. I think the most interesting things I saw people do to try to stay sane under quarantine was the visits to Krispy Kreme, the line for the drive thru were insanely long and wrapped around the curb like a snake. It felt strange seeing the block so lonely but it has recently reopened and is full of cars yet again. -
