Bay Area health care workers want more transparency about on-the-job coronavirus exposure
In 2020, there are a lot of secrets that are being kept from health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health workers have emphasized that they want to be immediately notified when they have come in contact with the coronavirus by patients, so they are able to get tested and stay safe away from others. However, many of them have not been notified- and that resulted them into testing positive for the coronavirus. This is extremely important to talk about because without health care workers, the pandemic would be much more out of control than how it is now. They put their lives at risk to help patients who have the coronavirus. If more and more workers are in the dark to whether a patient they have worked with has COVID, then there were be less health care workers available at hospitals for assistance. -

Front Lines: Reactions to the Pandemic Seen From a Health Care Professional's Perspective
Working through this pandemic has been difficult to say the least. This video was taken during a spike of cases here in TN and was what I call a light in the darkness. It has been truly interesting to hear the different opinions and perspectives from my patients. Religion has been a major theme. Some patients see the good, and some see all the bad. I have heard theories on why this may be happening from "Punishments from God", " The end is coming", "We have been given this time to get closer to our family", etc. Regardless of the meaning behind it all, it is nice to know those working through the pandemic have a stong support group. -

Danville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics Re-Opens
Local Contra Costa County dentistry practices were closed during the county's shelter-in-place order that begin mid-March 2020. The dental practice my children go to, Danville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, was closed on March 13, 2020 and reopened May 18, 2020. In preparation for their opening, they thoughtfully sent all of their patients an email with a video explaining the new procedures they would follow as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their communication was calm, uplifting and reassuring. They have taken all possible precautions to keep their staff and patients safe. I appreciate the responsible manner in which they are operating in these uncertain times. As always, Danville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is truly a class act. -

California Coronavirus Transfers
In Southern California, the coronavirus has particularly been vicious along the border area. Hospitals in the area are struggling, as noted in the tweet. This has led to an effort to outsource care wherever there is space; some patients are being taken as far North as San Francisco. This item was added TAGS v6.1.9.1. I originally searched under the hashtag #california. Within that search, I have chosen to add the following tweet because it describes severe medical toll that has been taken on hospitals across the border area. Link to article in tweet: (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/07/us/coronavirus-border-mexico-california-el-centro.html) -

Empty Fangcang Hospital
This is a photo of Fangcang Hospital in Wuhan, China. The hospital was originally a gym square and used to isolate patients during this pandemic. But this empty gym signals that China has beat the COVID-19 and patients in this hospital are all cure. -

USS Comfort, leaving NYC
I took this photograph of the USS Comfort, a Navy medical ship, leaving NYC on the Hudson River. It arrived in early April to supplement the already overtaxed medical resources of NYC. I don't think it ever helped as much as we hoped, taking fewer than 200 non-covid patients, and treating between 180 and 190 Covid patients. All the same, it's a good sign that it is no longer needed. -

Northwood Halifax Halifax PPE for Care Aides on April 18th, 2020
I took this photo on April 18th on break to show my friends the PPE I had received to wear at work that day. This is my first shift on a care floor. Prior to this, I had worked for 2 weeks screeninng people for COVID-19 symptoms. Many of my friends and family were scared that there was not enough PPE for long term care workers. I am wearing a hair cap, protective goggles, a surgical face mask, a disposable gown, blue plastic shoe protectors (not pictured), and have just taken of my gloves so that I can use my phone. I was working on a floor with a lot of COVID patients that day. I chaged my gloves between people and had a plastic faceshield to wear if patients were coughing.
