  Gifts on a Line [PRIVATE-REVIEW]

  Last Christmas, one of my cousins contracted Covid. This threw a wrench in our entire plans for the weekend. We stayed with my grandmother instead, but we were debating whether or not to even show up to my cousin's house or if the trip was all a bust. My dad convinced me to go but to stay distant. It turns out my cousin had come up with this elaborate line system that allowed her to slide us our presents from the house down to the street on a hook. It was the craziest gift-giving moment I have had and I hope not to experience that again if I don't have to.

  My Life with Covid 19

  In 2020, The week of my 22th birthday I tested positive for covid-19. I had no signs that I had even feel sick or had covid. I tested three times before that due to my family friend having covid but I was not really in direct contact but wanted to test anyway. Negative all three time that day. I don't know why they tested me three times but whatever. When I was at home resting and trying to "do my time" I felt totally normal. It was like any other day to me. However, when I got my shots I when I had all the side effects and was out for a good two days at school. I felt like I was gonna die. I had to wait the two days out and nothing felt good to me,I could not get comfortable, and I was sore all over. It even felt like that when I got my booster. Overall, covid sucks!

  Quarantine

  January 18, 2021 I have been in quarantine for 12 days now, and it was originally supposed to end on Wednesday, but after about my fourth day of quarantine, my sister tested positive so I was exposed again, extending my quarantine to the 25th, meaning 19 days of quarantine. It was not so bad at first because I had about 6 friends who were quarantined also, but they are going back to school, so I will be alone for about the last week of quarantine. It is not so bad though because I am in St. Francisville, and after school I can play basketball, drive the Polaris, fish, or even hunt. Online school has been boring but not too bad because I can sleep later and eat basically anything I want for lunch. Also, I am very happy because Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class for football is now ranked the highest class of all time, and our basketball team is also doing amazing. I just went to the Alabama-LSU basketball game, and Alabama won by a lot and set the SEC record for most threes in a game, and I think we had 22 or 23, but the previous was also held by us, which we set last year. This was my first Alabama basketball game, and only my third college basketball game. My first one was a long time ago and was a Tulane game, and my second was a few years ago and was an LSU basketball game, and I went because it was after Bob Pettit’s statue unveiling, and my family got to go because my grandmother is Bob Pettit’s first cousin.

  Jesus will understand if you stay home during a pandemic

  One of the first things my parents did when they retired and moved to Arizona was find a church. I was very vocal about wanting them to wait to return to large group gatherings but for some strange reason, they seemed to think that they couldn't get covid in church. My mom thought that after all the hardships brought on by the pandemic she needed to be back in church. A month later my dad got sick. We all naively thought it was the flu until I saw the shortness of breath. I told him to get sick and sure enough, he tested positive. Two weeks later my mom contracted Covid. I was hoping it wouldn't hit them too bad but my mom is a diabetic and they are older (late 50's and mid 60's) so I was a bit worried. As the days went by neither of them was getting better. My parents were sick through the holidays, I made Christmas dinner and we ate "together". I dropped off food at their front door then went to their back window where my kids and I ate picnic style. After three visits to the ER for my dad and four for my mom we finally started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I have lost many people to Covid, but it never hit me as hard as when I thought I was going to lose my parents. Thankfully, it was a massive lesson learned for my parents that covid spreads even in the church.

  Burnt Out Before Beginning

  January 2020 was going to be my year. I had gotten an internship in Pittsburgh, PA that only selected 200 kids out of the thousands of applicants. Not only did I get the internship, but I got it on the unit I wanted to be on, the Emergency Department. March of 2020 comes along. The pandemic has now hit the United States, and everyone panics. May of 2020 comes along. Still in quarantine and in lockdown. I had been out of my job for the past 2 months and was about to begin my internship. Although I was excited to get back to work, I never imagined that it would be as brutal as it was. Every morning at 6:30 am we would get screened at the door. Masks were given out, temperatures were taken, and the three health screening questions were asked. At first, no one came to the hospital. Everyone was still scared and didn’t want to come to the place that held confirmed COVID-19 positive patients. This lasted about a week. Then everyone began coming. Before we knew it we had more patients than staff and we didn’t have enough beds for everyone coming in. Patients would come in with a broken foot and next thing you knew they were COVID positive. Did we wear our mask properly around them? Did they cough on us? Did we maintain 6 feet apart? These were all the questions rambling through our heads once we had learned that a patient was positive after taking care of them all day under standard precautions. We didn’t have enough N-95 masks for everyone to wear, so you had one and that’s what you used all the time. The amount of PPE (personal protective equipment) was far less than we needed. The hospitals tried their best to get them, but sometimes we had to make do without it. At the time, not everyone could get swabbed. We didn’t have enough it’s for everyone so only those that had 3 major symptoms (fever, sore throat, body aches). This was before we knew the asymptomatic patients were so high in number. Every day we wore our masks for 13 plus hours. Every day we wore gloves and gowns for 13 plus hours. Every day we put our lives at risk to save everyone else for 13 plus hours. This is only a snippet of what healthcare members saw throughout this pandemic and are still seeing today. Within 4 months, I was burnt out from the pandemic. I graduate in May and I fear to see what the hospitals will be like then. In better words: wear your masks, get vaccinated if possible, and follow the guidelines. It may not harm some of you personally, but it is hurting your healthcare professionals every day that this pandemic lingers.

  statistics

  There have been 97.7 total Covid 19 cases in the world. One of those cases was my uncle. Near thanksgiving he wasn't feeling well so he instinctively got a Covid test. About 2 days later he got a call that said he had the virus. This effected our family greatly. We were all worried sick and were praying that he healed. The funny part was, he said it only felt like a regular cold. He did eventually get better and we were thankful to God.

  My friend got Covid

  I have not been greatly affected by my friend testing positive for Covid 19. My friend had no symptoms of Covid 19 and said it felt like nothing. Nothing really changed because my parents didn't want me really over at my friends house since some of my family are high risk. He said he couldn't taste anything but said the only problem was he couldn't really see us. I still called him once in a while to see how he's doing but right now he doesn't have Covid.

  Corona friend

  Corona for me, has not affected my life much at all, but I do have a friend who's dad got corona. It affected me by me not being able to hang out with that friend. They did this just to make sure there was no risk of it spreading. Even though no one was really sick we wanted to make sure we could stay in school. The friend's father was completely fine and the rest of his family tested negative. I also had another friend that tested positive but had no symptoms and never got sick. These two cases are the only ones that have affected my life, but they didn't affect it a lot. I was only not allowed to hang out with them because of their parents, mine were completely fine with it because they know the virus is not going to kill anyone.

  Tested Positive

  In my close circle I haven't had anyone that has been tested positive for Covid-19. In the big circle, there have been a few though. All of them were school related. Some student in school were sent home for a week because one of their students got sick, and one of the teachers in my grade also got sick, but since I was indirectly related I didn't get affected. Most of the times where someone remotely close to me got Covid, I wasn't effected in any way.

  Covid-19 Symptoms

  So far, I have only know two people that have had Covid-19. One of them was my uncle who lives in New Jersey, and the other was a friend of mine who is my age. My family from NJ came to visit us two weeks ago(which included my uncle), and my uncle told us that a few months he had covid-19. He said that he had no symptoms at all, the only way he even knew he had it was because he had to get tested to go back to work. The test came back positive, but he still had not even one symptom. I also have a friend who had covid-19 over winter break. He said that he had no symptoms except for he lost his taste and smell for three days. Those are the only people that I've know who have had covid-19.

  My grandma and grandpa having Covid-19.

  My grandma and grandpa had Covid in November, before thanksgiving. My grandma got it from a nurse that had it from her work and then she got it and passed it on to my grandpa. My grandma had it for 3-4 weeks. She had a fever, cough, lost of taste, shortness of breath, body aches. My grandpa had it for about 2 weeks. He had body aches, headaches and a slight cough. My grandma has to go to the Los Robles Hospital because she had shortness of breath. The doctors helped her by giving her some oxygen, some antibiotics, steroids, plasma with with antibodies, Vitamin D and C, and Zinc. My grandpa did not have to go to the hospital. They are all fine now but that was a little scary when my grandma had to go to the hospital.

  Symptoms of COVID-19

  As you've probably already heard, many people have caught COVID. I don't know anyone in my family that has caught it, but I do have a family friend that caught it. I know that sympotoms and how the virus attacks your immune system can differ, but in this case it wasn't too bad. Some of the symptoms my friend is experiencing are tiredness, fatigue, fever, runny nose, and pain all over the body. Again, I've heard of others going to the hospital because they weren't able to breath. This friend, caught is a few days ago, so he is isolated in his home and sadly the rest of his family has caught it. As of now, they are doing fine and hope to have a swift recovery.

  I have not been affected by anyone I know testing positive, and i have not been tested positive. My brother has to get tested every month and he has never tested positive. I guess my moms cousin tested positive and was in the hospital, I don’t know if he died or not though my parents just stopped talking about him. I never met him.

  What happens when the virus isn't a mystery anymore.

  Several months into Covid and the virus was still really a mystery to me. I had heard stories and new the facts about Covid, but I hadn't experienced it or knew anyone who had. However, that changed when someone I knew had tested positive for covid. During a school activity, I had been right next to them, I could have got Covid as well! However, I didn't show any symptoms and was fine even after a few weeks. Even though I had to quartine for a while I was fine. However, it showed me that Covid was no joke and I became more aware of the virus and really how quickly it can spread.

  My sister tested positive for COVID and everything in our house went down on lockdown. She was only sick for a day and no one else got sick. This is this scary virus that is killing people by the thousands. If your young its no problem but I will say be weary if your older.

  The Spread of Corona Virus

  I have a fairly large friend group and around halloween a couple of my friends got corona. So on Halloween there were 3 different parties to split up the friend group, so that it would be safer for corona. At one of the parties there was this girl there and her brother had corona (but she didn't know it at the time). So everyone she was with got it, including her. Then they had to quarantine and stay away from everyone for 3 weeks. I felt really bad for them because it seemed really lonely. I have also gotten tested multiple times and it felt really weird and my nose started running. I am glad that I have these experiences to learn and grow from.

  Corona started around 8 months ago and it has taken a toll on everyone's social life and jobs. For a while, I never thought corona would affect anyone close to me and I was never too worried about catching the virus. Until one of my close friends left my house to go see her stepmom for her birthday and she caught corona from her. It lasted around 2 weeks and she lost her taste but it didn't affect her that hard she tested again after 2 weeks and she didn't have covid. After this situation it made me realize that corona isn't just something you hear about on the news, it's all around you.

  My Experience with a Positive Covid Test

  I personally haven't really been affected by Covid, but I have had a few friends who tested positive. It was kind of funny because the two friends that I would talk with every day and hang out with were the two to get it. One of my friends tested positive on Christmas Eve and the other tested positive a few days before Christmas. I didn't know for a while because of Christmas plans and holiday festivities, so it wasn't a huge deal, but we couldn't get together for new years' which was kind of sad.

  My grandparents tested positive right after Thanksgiving, but we didn't go up there since they were not feeling well. Other than that, my orthodontist and his wife tested positive, but I haven't had/needed an appointment in quite a while. That is just about it.

  CoviD symptoms

  It was a couple weeks after the New Year. My coach had a fever and felt achey. He said maybe it was the flu, but he got tested for COVID. He realized that he tested positive. He had a mild cough, but couldn't sleep at night. Also, he had to quarantine for 2 weeks so I couldn't train or play basketball with him. My uncle also got COVID but his case was worse. He couldn't breathe at all and had to go to the hospital. He was there for around 5 days, and actually caught pneumonia from it. Eventually he recovered, but it was a crazy week. All in all, these are some of the symptoms that I have noticed in people.

  Coronavirus in My Community

  Fortunately, not very many people I know have gotten COVID-19. Maybe two or three people I know, at most, have tested positive since quarantine started. For my mom's birthday in the beginning of January, my parents decided to do a wine tasting event at our house. There was a moderate amount of people there, about twenty I'd say. My friend's parents were there and had just gotten back from visiting family in Ohio. My parents were sure to warn everyone invited that they may have been in contact with the virus during their traveling, but had not tested positive, yet. Unfortunately, a couple days after the party, almost their whole family had tested positive for COVID-19. Everyone that attended the party was on the lookout for potential symptoms afterward, as they have been in contact with the couple who tested positive. This couple had very minor symptoms and never felt severely unwell during the infection. Most people my family, friends, or family friends know that have gotten COVID have never experienced severe symptoms, but it's possible for them to become severe. Symptoms can consist of a fever or chills, coughing, shortness of breath/trouble breathing, fatigue, body aches, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, sinus congestion, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea. I am thankful that my family and I have never gotten COVID and few people we know have.

  Why didn’t I get infected?

  Hello, I am a 33 yo female living in Belgium. A month ago, after a trip to Venice, my husband got infected with Sars-cov2(we are not sure if he took it there). He had all the symptomps of the infection and he tested positive for it. I was in direct contact with him 24/7 and I never tested positive nor developped any symptom. Moreover, once he had started to feel better, we both did the antibodies blood test. He had the antibodies(7,9 >1.4) and I had nothing(0.009<1.4). I cannot find an explanation for it, nobody talks about it. I found lots of info about asymptomatic people but nothing about people who seem to be immune to it even though never had it. Any help?   Positive Test For Covid-19, and the Government

  This form of media shows the government action in regards to handling the spread of Covid-19 across the country, specifically in Las Vegas. I chose this news story because I personally tested positive for Covid-19, and I believe that the government plays a strong role in the enforcement of rules that help to avoid the spread of the sickness. Although many view that the government has gone above its power to help protect the citizens of the country, it also is the necessary force that has the money, authority, and influence to do such a task. This text is relatable to me because I had to be tested, endure the actual sickness, and I was constantly burdened by doctors as well as similar government entities to share the people who I was potentially exposing. Legally, my positive test had to be reported to the government, but I felt that it was kind of an invasion of my privacy to report to the government the people who I live with who I could’ve been exposing. After I was safe to be around others after facing Covid-19, I felt a social burden, like I was a danger to others even though I was completely safe. All in all, the media source is relatable to me because of my experiences with testing positive, as well as how the government has a specific role to protect the citizens, even if in this specific case, the government may be abusing its power.   When My Fever Broke

  I fell seriously ill on March 23, 2020. I vividly remember my body being hit with extreme chills and my skin was hot to the touch. I remember being so cold that I needed two blankets to keep warm while experiencing a high fever. Even though I I felt deathly sick, I denied the thought of even having Covid for some reason. However, in the middle of the night I woke up coughing and I knew I had it. I immediately quarantined and contacted anyone that I had contact with to let them know that I might be infected with Covid-19. At the time, there wasn’t an easy way securing a test for Covid-19. A friend referred me to a private clinic to get tested. I was finally able to get tested on March 25, 2020 and the next day the doctor called me to tell me I tested positive with Covid-19. Fortunately for me, my worst day was the first night. I suffered a mild fever for about 7 days straight. This is the only photo I took during my whole quarantine. It’s a photo showing when my fever finally broke. When the thermometer showed a temperature 98.2 degrees, a wave of relief fell over me. It was so surreal at the time and I wanted to provide a snapshot of a moment in time of my Covid experience.

  Delay in obtaining prison records postpones Anderson release hearing

  This article reports on the case of a former Sonora doctor, Danny Anderson, who is an inmate at the California Institution for Men in Chino. Anderson's attorneys sought an early release for Anderson due to his autoimmune disease. Anderson previously had the virus and was cleared, but doctors do not know if there will be significant immune response to the virus to prevent a second infection. There have been delays to the release of the inmate. At the time of the article, there were 63 cases of COVID-19 within that prison. Many prisoners are being released around the state to relieve overcrowding, but it seems to be going at a slower pace than could really help alleviate the problem.

  Mass Religious Gathering In Pakistan Leads To Fresh Concerns Over COVID-19 Spread

  The diplomat Ahmed Rabi said there was supposed to be a two-day gathering on march 12th in eastern Pakistan. The gathering of the Tablighi Jamaat which is a Muslim missionary group brought together thousands of Muslim preachers from 80 countries and they have raised concerns about the spread of the virus. One member Arif Rana said the gathering was canceled on March 12th because of rain but the Punjab chief master said it ended because of the coronavirus fears.
