First time traveling in Covid 19 Pandemic
For my primary sources I chose pictures that I took with my friend and family through covid pandemic and my first trip to my country which is Dominican Republic at July 4, 2020, and it did not feel the same because some people were afraid of hug me, talk to me and even I could see them put their mask on when they saw me coming to their way and I do not really blame them because even i was afraid to hug my significant ones because I know that the time we were going through it was a lot for them, I am not going to lie, I was scared to go out because everytime that I watched the news just I heard that millions people died from Covid and that did not give comfort to go out because I did not want to get my family and friends sick. At july 20th I traveled for first time in the pandemic and it did not feel great because the looks that people used to give me when I cough or sneeze it was like if I came from another place, I did not enjoy this vacation the wanted because I could not see the people i wanted to see and the people I saw were scared of me because of Covid. I selected this source because I want to show the historians in the future the struggles and the loss that many people had in 2020 because of Covid, for example the students had to take classes from their home which is basically teaching ourselves, people lost their jobs because the economic went down and there was not enough budget to pay the employers because the Country was not prepared for this situation, and that many people lost members of their family, this was a difficult time for all of us. -

Covid Procedures
While this pandemic was spreading, we had to take some drastic procedures so that it doesn't become more of an issue than it is. From basically March to August we had to quarantine ourselves indoors. Everyone over-prepared for it thinking that they would need 10 boxes of toilet paper. In September people stopped following the quarantine rule and started going about the day just like they used to. For the students, they had to do remote learning. They had to do calls instead of actually showing up to school. If people would go anywhere outside of their houses they would have to wear a mask, and stay at least 6ft apart from other ppl who are not your family. -

Anger, Uncertainty, and Fear Felt Nationwide: Reverberations in San Francisco
These photos portray the heightened social and political tensions that occurred after George Floyd's death. Systematic racism, marginalization, and police brutality sparked an increase in civil unrest, resulting in a mandated curfew in San Francisco. Floyd's tragic death caused rioting, protesting, and looting nationwide, concurrently taking place during the worsening pandemic of COVID-19. As many businesses closed their doors, many closing for good, few essential businesses such as Safeway stayed open. Strict policies in regards to wearing faces masks, social distancing as well as more intensive cleaning measures, were enforced to ensure the safety of the community at large. In short, the photos of store policies depict the rapid changes that were implemented in response to COVID-19. The rest of the photos show how our store took cover during the intense rioting that spiked in late May and early June. A few depict the aftermath of the looting at a local Safeway branch; the store that I worked at was not unscathed in the looting scene. I hid with a couple of employees in the manager's office, on the phone with police, as people broke in. This is just a small glimpse into a larger event that reverberated nationwide, sparking massive outcry, and hushed voices to rise as many sheltered during this pandemic. -

Costco shopping during Pandemic
I saw this scene in a video posted on Instagram about the line of people waiting for shopping in Costco Wholesale before the pandemic lockdown. I surprised by how people are seriously prepared and reacted to the Covid-19 and tried their best to be safe and prepared for the quarantine. -

“I would say I am by book Christian..."
“I would say I am by book Christian but for me I think I would consider myself having a stronger relationship with God rather than being committed to the religion of Christianity but yeah this pandemic has definitely risen the talk of God coming or the end. This stuff kind of tends to usually freak people out but I've done or at least attempted to become more prepared for his coming spiritually.” -

What Is Going On?
Listen…I don’t know who else can agree on this with me, but doesn’t it just feel like a light switch went on and suddenly the world knew what the Corona virus was? When I sit down and reflect on the first time I remember hearing of it, my mind draws a blank. It’s like this huge conspiracy within my own mind, that one day I just woke up and all of a sudden was in the loop. There is talk that it started in December, and there is talk of people first hearing in January, for me personally, I have no clue. This is not something any of us prepared for…parents are out of jobs, businesses are declining rapidly being forced to shut down, schools closing and children losing proper education tools. It feels like a horror story, I truly think it is, and I already know down the road in the future my kids will ask about my experience in it and how it impacted me. That is why I am trying to document everything, write journal entries, take videos, to truly remember what I felt at a time like this. I don’t ever want to forget it. But I want it to end. For the first time in my mother’s 35+ years of working, she’s had to file for unemployment. Never did I think that my mom would be unemployed. Things happen though, and since humans are so adaptable it’s been wild to see everyone adjust and learn this new normal. If you would have told me a month ago that my world would be turned upside down, I would have such a hard time believing you. I am a senior in college. I go to Marymount University, and this semester was supposed to be the time of my life. My friends and I took a history course that went abroad to Paris for spring break. That was supposed to be in early March. You’d think it was a joke that 2 hours before boarding the bus to head to the airport and we get an email that our trip had just officially been cancelled. This was so early on with the virus, no talk of quarantine, I didn’t even know what that term was at the time. It wasn’t until middle of the following week that people began discussing the possibility of it taking place. Fast forward to now, nearly 2 months later and over half of my spring semester became online, my graduation was cancelled, and almost all of my friends moved home. My internship got cancelled, and my last day as a senior just disintegrated in front of my eyes. Despite anything, I’ve been trying to find the positives in this situation and grow more so that once this is all over, I can reflect and be proud of what I did. I think it is important that everyone just does what they can to be safe and take precautions, but that they do what they need to fulfill their daily needs to stay happy. Though this has single-handedly been the worst thing to happen in my lifetime, there is a lot to be learned and improved on. But seriously…I still wonder .. what is going on..?! -
