Church and COVID
This is a tweet from ChurchAndCovid. This account is trying to help people out in finding ways for people to protect themselves during worship services. The account recommends that instead of providing cloth or surgical masks, it would be more effective to have N95 and KN95 masks instead. Some churches have taken different approaches to COVID, and as we can see here, some churches practice more precaution than others. -

A World Apart
Nearly a decade ago, I immigrated to South Africa. At the time of the start of the pandemic, my partner and I had been struggling with our visa papers and it had been 7 years of fighting with Home Affairs. March 2020 saw the closure of Home Affairs, a national state of emergency with nearly a year of stay-at-home orders from the government, curfew, and limited access to the public sphere, and for the first time, a reprieve from the nightmares of the immigration process. Just like that, in a single memo to the public, Home Affairs resolved all of its bureaucracy, in favour of public safety, and my partner and I were able to stay in the same place together for over 18 months. The longest we'd been able to stay together since immigrating. In a situation that saw so much upheaval, pain, uncertainty, and widespread panic, I found precious moments of peace and safety. I felt lucky and guilty all at once. Living in a rural forest community in the mountains, with my nearest neighbour over a mile away, stay-at-home orders had little impact on my daily life and I was able to relish time at home with the people who mean the most to me. All the while, stories of social and political dissent and unrest played a continual reminder that not all was right with the world, that my experience was unique and world's apart from the collective pandemic experience. I was made painfully aware that this global phenomenon, one that connected people so thoroughly and completely, was a deeply and fundamentally separate experience for myself. I have a privileged, unique, and unusual story of joy and peace experiencing the pandemic. As an American in another country, I was able to see first hand what a nation with limited resources could do when it decided to put public health and safety above all else. The pandemic provided me with my very first experience of feeling wholly communally supported, safe, and protected. This is a story I want to share because so many people were deeply traumatised by their government's response to covid and the subsequent fallout of the lack of support, and for them to know that it was no failing on their part for feeling like they were put through a meat grinder. Every single person on this planet deserved to experience the ease and simple joy that I was granted, and in a world with such immense wealth, there is honestly no excuse for why my experience was so unique. -

Happy Earth Day!
This is an Instagram post by hoploninc. This company is wishing everyone a Happy Earth Day. The post itself is relevant because it shows an anthropomorphized version of an earth in a mask, crushing COVID with its foot. Next to it is a personified roll of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Since the pandemic began, masks and hand sanitizer have become more commonplace to combat COVID. -

Feeling Awkward in Your Mask?
This is an Instagram post by gailwaldby. This is a comic of showing you how you can deal with wearing a mask while other people aren't wearing one. Some of the advice includes: ignoring people, focusing on the task at hand, and remembering why you are wearing a mask still. For some, they might have reasons for wanting to continue wearing a mask if they are high risk, or are in contact regularly with people that are high risk. Others might not feel confident in cases not going down as much as the news claims, so that could be another reason to continue wearing a mask. Whatever the case, some might have anxiety standing out if they are one of the only people wearing a mask in a public setting. -

Wear a mask if you are...
This is an Instagram post by thehesbrooklyn. This is a PSA advising you when you should wear a mask. Some of the things it say to wear a mask for include: feeling sick, indoor public settings, unvaccinated, immunocompromised, high risk group, around unvaccinated, etc. The first point I find the most interesting because it marks a change in culture due to the virus. Prior to the virus, people I know wouldn't really wear a mask if they felt sick. Now, if some are feeling under the weather, they will wear masks. Considering this is a PSA for New York City, it is a place with some that has had some restrictions much longer than other parts of the United States. According to a relevant article linked with this post, New York City did not drop most COVID restrictions until March 7, 2022. Comparatively, my own state of Arizona had most restrictions lifted on March 25, 2021. Though, much like New York City, some businesses still require masks out of their own choice. As we see here, this PSA for Brooklyn is encouraging people to still wear masks even if some restrictions have been lifted. -

Locked Up
Playing basketball at Virginia Park was one of my favorite things to do before the pandemic hit; I have been playing there weekly for years, until Covid broke out. While I totally understand the reasoning behind locking up the rims (and I'm still not playing even though they are now open because I don't feel comfortable doing so), it still makes me sad to see a court and not be able to use it. -

The not so boring every day life
I used to work at a store called Bed Bath & Beyond. It was a mediocre job at best. Getting up at 9am and working until 5pm. The occasional customer who’d come in every now and then and brighten my day was nice, but there has to be a balance. The occasional customer who would come in with the sole purpose to ruin your day. Pre December 31st, 2019. After work I would come home and play some video games, do homework, and if I had time go to the skatepark late at night. When I wasn’t at work, I was at school. I went to Palmetto Ridge High School, and it was my junior year. I was looking forwards to just graduating already. It was fun, I met a lot of friends, but it was just getting tedious, going to the same classes over and over again, just to meet the state requirements. I couldn’t wait to go to college, to pursue only the classes I needed for my future career. Life was pretty much mundane, no action, repetitive. December 31st, 2019. I had just awoken from my sleep and was getting ready to go into school, since it was a Tuesday. I turned on my TV and switched to the news channel to see if anything interesting was happening on the news, and to my surprise, this “virus” was said to have started in Wuhan China. Our “wonderful” president said it was nothing more than the common flu, so I shrugged it off and got ready for school. A couple of days had passed since the announcement of COVID-19 and things only escalated. I still thought it was nothing more than a virus, because at the time I followed Trump, (still don’t know why I ever did). That was until a customer came in, coughing their lungs out. I made sure not to check her out because she looked really, really ill. I stayed in the back most of the day, claiming that “Today was just not my day, I am tired, and I do not feel well”. I asked to leave work early that day and left. January 21st, 2020. By now I was seriously worried. I heard over the news that COVID-19 was spreading fast, and that it had just infected its first citizen in the U.S. I did not know what to do to counter it, so I treated it like a plague. I wore a medical mask everywhere I went, and double layered my hands with two latex gloves. My coworkers teased me, saying I was too worried and that it would pass. I almost wanted to listen to them, but I stuck to my guns and wore my protective gear in work. March 14th, 2020. Schools were now closed until April 14th. Things were starting to get serious, now my friends weren’t doubting my use of masks and gloves and they followed in my footsteps. There was no school now, which meant I had to work more hours. It was really weird not going to class, but I was kind of glad we weren’t. I was just happy to still be earning money. March 15th, 2020. I was supposed to work today, it was a Sunday, but seeing as my job was overstaffed that day, I called off saying that I was sick. (I really wasn’t). I wanted to go to the skatepark today with my friends and did not want to work overnight today. I am glad now that I skipped because a customer that had COVID-19 was not wearing a mask and had infected two co-workers. This had forced the building to shut down, and had the CDC close the building down to quarantine it. I really dodged a bullet. August 26th, 2021. (Present Day) A lot has changed over these past few years. Mainly lockdowns and mask mandates. I have been fully vaccinated with Moderna and am going to take my booster shot when the time comes. Oddly enough after the first major lockdown, nature started to come back. A lot of deer in the roads, alligators in swimming pools, and a ton of insects and amphibians. It is present day now, and we have a new variant of COVID-19, named the Delta Variant. Mask wearing was mandated, and then unmandated, and since Trump left office cases dropped with real facts on COVID-19 daily, none of this “fake news” as Trump used to say. COVID-19 is starting to die down a lot more now, but it still is not over. Hopefully people will use their brains and get vaccinated, and if they don’t, hopefully they use masks. -

Wedge issue
A facemask is a warning that reads: keep your distance lest you drag me down with you. The people who wear them are of no concern, they’ve chosen to live. It’s those that go about, naked and exposed, that should frighten you. -

Turtle Baby Boom
As an animal lover, one of the best things about the pandemic was the many stories of animals in the wild and in zoos breeding more successfully. Turtles around the globe were able to return to traditional nesting sites without the interference of tourists and beach goers. National Geographic published this article about nesting turtles in Florida. Some say the pandemic made a big difference in nesting success, others are less convinced. They also point out that the pandemic has caused increased poaching due to economic hardships. Finally, the article also sheds light on the ongoing problems turtles face due to climate change. -

Face Mask Required Signs
While some states are lifting their mask mandates, many regions and companies are still asking people to wear them in order to protect both employees and fellow individuals. While there are official printable signs available from both government sites and the CDC, there are also more stable signs for sale that can be displayed at places of business. This shows how industries adapt to current issues, as two years ago these signs were nonexistent, but are now fairly common at places that would like to protect their employees. Even with signs such as these, there is still conflict arising regarding masks, more than a year after the pandemic became a worldwide concern. These signs are an additional expense for businesses, but could prove to be more noticeable than a paper in the window. -

Community Paramedics Help Protect Homeless Populations from Covid
This article discusses the use of community paramedics in the Covid-19 prevention efforts for San Diego's homeless population. Community paramedics are specifically trained paramedics that shift their focus from the treatment/transport to the hospital model, to a home-care model where the patient receives treatment and stays at home. In this case, they are being used to staff clinics at homeless shelters to provide care and Covid testing to their homeless population. The article references a 2017 hepatitis A outbreak in their homeless population and how that event has influenced the efforts during Covid to prevent a major homeless population Covid-19 outbreak. The article also explains the complexities of running these clinics but that it is worthwhile to aid a community that is among the most vulnerable to Covid. -

Imagine being this fearful and demeaning to the community you're sworn to protect
"At the end of the day, if we live in the city, that means we have to shop where criminals that we arrest also shop,"MPD Police Union Director Sgt. Anna Hedberg responded in an interview with WCCO when asked if officers should live in the neighborhood they police. "And I don't know about you, but I don't want to go to Cub Foods with my two beautiful little girls and run into somebody that I've arrested for sex assault, shooting somebody, using heroin." Imagine being this fearful and demeaning to the community you're sworn to protect. -

COVID-19 Rules and Procedures
The last year in change has consisted of way too many rules and procedures mandated to be followed. Rules such as mask wearing, social distance, occupancy limitations, etc. All of which are crazy and unnecessary. Masks have been scientifically proven by tons and tons of scientists and sources that they do very little to protect you, and honestly only harm you. Masks prevent your oxygen intake drastically especially when working out when you need it the most. People have developed breathing issues from mask wearing and masks have done almost nothing to protect you from covid 19. Right now, cases are said to be at their highest, when nearly all Americans are wearing their masks everywhere they go. Something's up because either the cases are fake or masks don't work. It's one or the other. Social distancing can help, sure, but realistically nobody is doing that and unless you are part of the elderly population it doesn't even matter. Getting covid is literally the flu. It comes and goes. The flu is just something people get and have to deal with it isn't a big deal. A virus with over 99% survival rate is being freaked out upon like it's the Black Plague. Unless you are the elderly you really have nothing to worry about so I'm not sure what we're doing all this 'protection' for. -

My feelings on the rules and procedures that we have to take.
I think the rules and procedures we have to take to be safe during this pandemic are reasonable and fair. I think this because everyone wants to be safe and healthy especially doctors so when many doctors are telling us specific things to follow i'm going to think about why this i benefiting me and keeping me safe. Like wearing a mask, people say they don't work but doctor's on the other hand say they are very useful and will protect you from the virus that is in fact airborne. Staying six feet this is another big one, this distance is the correct and closest distance you can be from someone without picking up any viruses. These are the two biggest rules and procedures that I think we should follow and that work. -

Being Lowe’s safe by wearing our mask.
Sometimes social distancing is hard to do at all times. It is especially important to wear a mask when unable to stay 6 feet away from others since covid-19 spreads mainly from people who do not acknowledge the 6 feet requirement and have close contact with one another. While masks offer protection to yourself it also provides protection to those around you. Lowe’s provides its employees with Lowe’s specific make to stay safe. Lowe’s also provides masks to the public who do not have a mask. All one has to do is go to customer service and ask for a mask and we will happily provide one. With this there are some customers that come into the store without a mask and refuse to wear one. We still have to provide great customer service while being safe. In these situations we have to do our best to practice social distancing. -

Keys, Wallet, Mask
The image I chose to share was of the basket of masks in my room. Never in my life could I have predicted that this would be something I have, never mind how much of a staple it would become in my everyday life. I think what I titles thing story holds a certain importance as well. Keys, Wallet, Mask, really emphasizes how much masks have come to be a part of my daily routine. Going from living at home to moving into my new apartment in North End during the middle of the pandemic in July, just minutes from Downtown Boston, I went from only wearing a masks when going to get groceries indoors to wearing a mask every time I walk out my front door, even just walking down the street. I truly has just become such a natural thing to have a mask on my face and for everyone I walk by to have one on as well. I think the significance of the mask during the pandemic and that it has really been the only constant in my or everyone’s lives throughout this COVID-19 experience. Every day I hear contradicting statements about the pandemic, not knowing what’s true and what’s not. My masks for me symbolize a sense of protection at a very vulnerable time in life. I’m not sure if they help or if they don’t, but I know for sure that wearing a mask has given me some sense of security throughout all this chaos and uncertainty. -

Fall Semester Starts on a Positive Note: Grad School in Quarantine
This email was one of the first ones I received from the university when I first began graduate school. It was sent by the university's President, Tom Mengler. It details the lengths the university is going to in order to protect their students, faculty and other workers. For the first few weeks of the semester there were no reported cases of COVID-19 amongst people at the school. Compared to how other universities are handling the pandemic this shows that St. Mary’s actually cares about it’s students. It made me feel a little safer knowing that the university administration is taking steps to ensure that it’s people are protected. -

Still Confused About Masks?
The main point of this news article is getting across the point that it is very important to wear face masks while in the public. It has many pieces of evidence to support the wearing of masks. It also covers a few great points which is does it matter what mask each individual wears, and also does wearing the mask protect you from covid-19, or the people around you from it? This is the reason why I chose this article. I have been questioning both of these points since covid-19 and mask wearing started. This article reveals just how important it is to wear a mask when you are in the public and around other individuals that are not considered within your “personal bubble”. Many people are struggling with life in the pandemic right now, but also they are not doing their part in slowing the spread by properly masking up in public. The news article is very important because most of the population doesn’t know everything about covid-19 since it is new to all of us. The article provides crucial information on how to stop the spread, and hopefully eliminate the covid-19 virus. In this article, there is no bias standing out to me. This article is a fact based article that provides scientifically proven information about the virus. All of the claims of this article has stated have been run by tests. For example, a test was run about how many respiratory droplets left one’s mouth when saying a simple phrase. Without a mask, there was a range from 20-500 micrometers generated. With a face mask, nearly all of the droplets were trapped by the face mask. The responsibility of the media during the covid-19 pandemic is to keep the population up to date and educated about the virus. The more educated the population is, the slower the virus will spread, because a fraction of the population that is informed will follow protocols and safety tips from the media. From this article, I learned that wearing a face mask is much more powerful than I thought it was. After learning this from the article, I will make sure to wear a face mask when I am around my friends or in the public 100% of the time. -

Re-Open-California
Crowd control presses forward to end the assembly before it escalates further. A woman stayed seated as the world moved around her, and she nursed the child in her arms as her form of protest to the world happening around her as she knew it. Strangers joined her, seating themselves and protecting her and her child from being trampled by the swelling crowd. Twenty two people were arrested. The woman with her child walked home free. A surreal contrast in the beauty and innocence of children and chaos. -

My First Homemade Mask
Back at the beginning of April, when the CDC had just finally recommended that the general public wear masks when going out, I was eager to follow this guideline to the best of my abilities. Unfortunately, I didn't have any masks nor any good way of purchasing masks. (Online orders of anything were taking very long at that point in time, and masks weren't readily available in most stores not that I could get to one anyway.) So, I decided to try to make myself a mask. I wanted to make a really good mask. I did lots of research to find out what the best mask materials were for blocking the virus and everything. I searched my home, looking through my clothing, my towels, my reusable bags, trying to find the "right" material. I wasn't satisfied by anything I found. Given that, I decided that my best option was a relatively thick hand towel. I found a template online and proceeded to spend a couple hours hand sewing the mask that you see on my face in the picture. (I have very little experience hand sewing, so I didn't do a very neat job at all.) The final product was this huge mask that covered the entire lower half of my face. I mean, it worked, but it looked pretty hilarious. I did wear this mask out a number of times. It was basically my only option until I was able to order some better masks off the internet. I'm glad I don't have to wear that ridiculous homemade mask anymore, but I'm actually pretty impressed that I managed to make one at all. -

Everybody has a plan until they don't
I am finally returning to college, but certainly not under the circumstances I anticipated. I am already adjusting from a different major, but could have never imagined the added stress that this pandemic has brought. My family works in healthcare, so I considered myself generally aware of virology and therefore healthy practices to keep myself safe. However, I had no idea the measures that needed to be taken to ensure minimal spread. This is especially true of a college campus, which I haven't found myself on in several years. There is absolutely no reason to politicize this, we are all in this together. -

"Wearing a Mask is not a Political Statement" a drawing by @katieisdoodling
This screenshot greatly resembles current issues occurring in our world, especially the US, regarding the global pandemic of COVID-19 and politics. It seems that in the US, there is so much controversy over a simple object made of cloth. There are a numerous amount of people that follow public health regulations (one being wear a mask in public), to help limit their exposure to COVID-19. But others zealously argue against them, claiming that wearing a mask disables their individual freedom. Our president has made remarks that wearing a mask could be seen as a political statement, after he mocked Biden for wearing a mask, and after the CDC recommended wearing one. There are varying responses from the public as to why one chooses not to wear a mask. Ranging from religious, to cultural, to freedom/rights violations, anti-maskers think it should be their choice whether or not to wear a mask, and that they shouldn't be told to do so. Others think it's all about them and that they are healthy enough and won't get sick. -

A Tale of Two Masks
Working During a Pandemic is Fun In late March both of my part time jobs closed down. I have two contrasting occupations. One is at a Worldwide cooperation. The other is a small, locally owned business. I’ve felt the effects of the pandemic most forcefully while at work. Before the pandemic, I was working 60 hours weeks to support myself and go to school. I did not go anywhere else but work and home. The bars, salons, and other recreational areas shutting down had little to no effect on my day to day life. This is a cross correlation of the similarities and differences of the issues I have run into while working through the pandemic. At the beginning of the shutdown, my corporate job surprised me with increased wages and benefits to help aid through the initial closings. At my corporate job I was considered an essential employee, but my particular store did not have a drive through. I was able to stay safe at home for four weeks while the company shipped in barriers and masks and other COVID equipment. My other occupation at the small business, as a swim instructor for children shut down immediately and opted to put their employees on furlough until we were allowed to open back up. Because I already worked one part time job, I did not receive much unemployment benefit. Through no fault of my own, my income was cut in half and my savings are, to this day, empty. Even with the temporary pay raise given to me by the corporate job, rent and my 3,000 dollar tuition made my expenditure even to my income. When I went back to work at my essential job, which was making coffee, there were a lot of new rules to keep up with and enforce on customers. On my first day back a lady threw a handful of rocks at our window because we did not allow her to sit down at the facility. Many, many more occasions like this happened on a daily basis. People were frustrated with the new rules and unclear on their necessity. Customers were not required to wear a mask in the facility until very recently. This was very frustrating. If only one part of the party is wearing a mask no one is protected. It felt useless to be wearing something that was only designated to make customers feel better without risking their own comfort. The pandemic started affecting Butte county at a dangerous level in May, but people were not required to wear masks in public until four months later. Around mid July is when the Governor issued a State wide mask regulation and we were finally allowed by the company to ask customers to comply. Even with the statewide mask regulation, and every single business requiring it, customers continue to yell, demean me and blatantly not follow the rule. Every time a customer comes in without a mask I get extremely anxious at how they are going to respond to me politely asking if they have one. My company is even allowing me to give our mask supply to customers without one, for free! Even when offered a free mask, I am turned down and shamed. On this occasion I have to politely reply that I can walk their beverage to them and they can wait outside the store without a mask. If even one person is not wearing a mask, they are spreading their germs and infecting the entire room. If they are contagious or asymptomatic, COVID droplets can live on clothes, and services for up to three hours. It can reach your eyes and infect you that way. If you go to the Doctors office you will see them wearing a mask and face shield for this very reason. My finance, whom I live with, is immunocompromised. He has had bronchitis twelve times in his 21 year lifetime. This is due to being exposed to mildew and mold in his formative years creating a deadly combination of asthma and a severe dust allergy. If he was to catch COVID-19, he would become fatally ill and possibly die. This thought is on the forefront of my mind everyday at work. I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of knowledge and leadership in the Trump Administration during the Pandemic. It is now 5 months since we first started practicing half hearted health regulations. We are at 1,500 American deaths a day. Our death to population ratio is shameful compared to other countries. We have mass graves being dug on an island in New York for the unnamed victims of COVID-19. This is affecting our prison populations, our urban and rural communities. No one is safe. We have very simple precautions to follow but the constant negation of the validity of these practices from our president has left most of the population under a false sense of security. I have begun to resent customers I once enjoyed chatting with, due to their constant apprehension of wearing a mask. My other job, as a swim instructor, opened up June 17, about three months after my job as a barista did. This came with the forced opening of the economy. Within the first two weeks of being open, three teachers had to be tested and put into a two week quarantine. However, due to constant sanitation and all employees wearing masks, the spread stopped there. At this job, masks are required or no service is given. All staff and teachers wear masks at all times, and the building and equipment is decontaminated every night. Even with this constant sanitation, you can’t control people’s personal lives. As time goes on people are becoming more restless. When the president claims he does not believe in masks, and holds rally not servicing personal distance or masks, the populace feels safe to socially fraternize. Many of my coworkers are holding small gatherings, drinking with acquaintances and risking contamination through ignorance. The customers of this job are a lot more understanding. We make it abundantly clear what is required of them and we will not give them service otherwise. These clear boundaries, ultimately, are what ensure proper cooperation. We called every single client personally before we reopened and confirmed the new rules. We sent out emails, we have signs posted and every employee is specially trained on how to facilitate the new rules. I believe these regulations reflect how the populace responds to strong leadership. If we had clear rules from the beginning, with strict boundaries, would this second wave of infection have spread? -

Difficult to get home
First of all, because of the virus, every country is doing their best to try to contain the contagion, and the flights between countries are limited. So first of all, it is very difficult to get a ticket to get home. Secondely, the photo is I wear the protection suit, with goggles and N95 face masks in order to protect myself and others. A new normal
I titled the image “A New Normal” as the Corona virus pandemic has forced us into a a different way of life. It used be where if we went out of the house to go to the store all you usually needed was your car keys and wallet or purse but now it is much more than that today. Today, because of the corona virus , there much more that you need to help protect yourself from the corona virus before going out. The everyday carrying of items such as latex gloves, face masks and hand sanitizer have become an everyday necessity for some because of corona virus and have become the new normal. -

"The World Should Unite"
In 2020, when the Chinese New Year is approaching, a virus broke out in Wuhan that people have never seen before. After the New Year, the entire China began to fight against the outbreak. I feel deeply that in the early stage of the outbreak, there were countless young doctors in China who voluntarily signed up and applied to go to the place where the epidemic was most severe-Wuhan, the hero of the Chinese people, Grandpa Zhong Nanshan, arrived in Wuhan as soon as possible, which made us feel the most united It was during the epidemic that the Chinese people were able to obey the government's command to close the city, close the countryside, and close the community. The people stayed at home and did not go out, so that the epidemic did not spread so quickly. The virus is also under control Here I want to thank the medical staff who traveled to Wuhan. You risked your life to protect me. You did not choose to back down and avoid, but chose to fight against the virus. You came forward. Many young doctors did not tell themselves Parents are afraid of them. Many attending doctors change their hair from black to white within a month. During this epidemic, many doctors unfortunately contracted the virus during the treatment and did not return to their hometown and died. The epidemic is on the front line. Here, I want to pay tribute to all the medical staff, to the dead medical staff, you have worked hard. I would also like to thank those who contributed to the epidemic, the staff of the Wuhan "Vulcan Mountain" Hospital and the "Raytheon Mountain" Hospital, you worked hard, you built the hospital in just ten days, it was shocked The speed of the world is the result of your work day and night, and you have worked hard. In this epidemic, I feel the unity of the Chinese people. Most people, following the government ’s decision, stay at home and do not go out. Songs written by singers to cheer for Wuhan, and painters painted for Wuhan, writers, many people use their own ways to cheer for China and cheer for medical staff. This makes us very moved. There are many entrepreneurs and workers. Both students and teachers donated money for the epidemic, and many large manufacturing companies began to produce masks and disinfectants. Chinese people are cheering for Wuhan in their own way, cheering for medical staff I would also like to thank other countries that helped China during the epidemic. When the epidemic broke out, many countries assisted China by donating, donating, sending medical teams to China, and refueling China in various ways, although there are Some complained to China, but people from all over the world also cheered for China. Many of our teachers even chose to stand with the Chinese people and stay in China even when the epidemic was serious. People from all countries said that they helped and cheered on China With a "thank you" China's epidemic situation is much better now. China will also try its best to help other countries. Only when we unite will the world be perfect. -

Journal of the Plague Year entry 2
The retirement home/health center that I work at just just had their first COVID-19 case this week, and naturally every single employee freaked out. The retirement home I work at is home to some very wealthy people, and the facility is considered one of the best assisted living places in the United States. Yet, the we still seemed unprepared for something like this to happen at the facility. For the past few weeks due to lack of face masks in the facility, most employees are given bandanas to cover their mouths and noses that to me aren't very effective, and we are having people take temperatures upon arrival that have no idea how to take temperatures. I have consistently came to work with a temperature, according to the person taking it, between 90 and 95 degrees which doesn't seem right at all. For the sake of our residents, I really hope that we can continue to do more to protect them and ourselves from this invisible enemy. -
