Journey into Georgetta's Covid Experience
My name is Georgetta Jones, and I am a cashier at the College of Charleston City Bistro. Also, I work at a Daycare; Devine Daycare. As soon as Covid-19 started, I contracted it (February 2020) due to my being an 'essential worker' at my job. I was horribly laid up for fourteen days, and, as this was before the vaccines were released, I was afraid & certain I was going to die from this terrible disease. Fortunately, due to my rare blood type (O+), I had natural immunity to the virus, and was able to recover quickly after the fourteenth day; I went back to work on the 15th day. COVID-19 is a horrible virus, & it is shameful not to see people take it seriously. Due to my vitamins & water, I was able to get better quickly; it is important to take the natural precautions to protect oneself against the disease. If we as a country (and the world) are to overcome this deadly disease, we must trust in medicine, trust the doctors, trust science, and, most importantly, trust each other. -

Jared Holmberg Oral History, 2021/08/02
When the Pandemic first broke out, I was concerned that I would catch the virus since I was working in an elementary school at the time. I thought of various ways to boost my immune system and I thought making healthy soups sounded like the best idea. I looked through the internet and I found this healthy quinoa soup recipe. I tried it and absolutely loved it. It was savory, hearty, and contained a rich blend of rustic flavors. This dish became one of my favorites throughout 2020 and I still cook it from time to time. For anyone looking for a healthy way to fight the virus, I recommend this recipe. -

The cause of Covid-19
This is how I think Covid started. Covid has been a thing for a very long time but it was never carried by humans. It was actually carried by bats! The way the sickness actually started was someone killed a bat and then made it into a soup and ate it! When he ate it the sickness some how transported into his body. Then he got corona and spread it, and now it is a world wide sickness that has the world scared. -

The Origin of COVID
I was first told that COVID-19 was started because of bat soup that was commonly sold in Asia. Bats are known to carry many diseases and I was originally not surprised by the cause of this virus. However, I now know it was a man-made virus and was developed and let loose in a lab. With this information, I thought it was a lot different than bat soup. I was a little surprised at hearing this information, but it was starting to make more sense over time. The origin of this virus is now known to me and I now know that we need to be more careful when experimenting. I also know that we need to prepare for other pandemics in the future. -

Another soup can dinner
An image of the dinner that I have been having for the past week. The inability to work my job has limited the amount I can eat every day, and some of the foods I have been eating are now running low in stores. The future for people with no ability to work may be bleak. -

Face Soup anyone?
This is a picture of me boiling our face masks after they have been worn. We boil them for 10 minutes after every time they have been worn then hang them up to dry. Every member of the household has three masks so there are always dry ones. We call the process of boiling them making Face Soup and joke that if we run out of food we can always make a broth out of it. Our statue of the Food-a looks on with a Zen like patience. -

Creamed Soup Now A Food
Two weeks ago, I noticed that many aisles were depleted and most of the soups were gone The "cream of" soups were all still there, which made me laugh. Now, they're gone, too. Can't decide whether this is funny. -

Not even a Pandemic Makes Cream of Mushroom Real Food
Many shelves bare, and most soups, but not the "cream of" varieties. I'll know things are sure when they begin to disappear
